If you decide to start growing your own you might want to invest in a small dehydrator. I love dehydrators they work great.

I always wanted to get one of those to make my own beef jerky since you can't buy it in Ireland

I have the 9 shelf Excalibur that I purchased over 11 years ago and it still works like a champ. I dehydrate a lot of fruits. Have never really done beef jerky because I can buy a bag of jerky at our dollar store for $1.00.

Usually it's quite expensive over here, even at Walmart's, but I recently found it at the dollar store as I'd mentioned and I bought quite a few bags and repackaged them and froze the. I love it too!
