As always Crash thanks. I think you have truly helped all of us to be much better informed as to what the Iolite is and the best ways to use it.

Please be careful though, we sure don't want to lose you to a Nic OD.

I have to agree thus far that the tobacco and PG mix looks like it has the most vapor. There's no way I could take the long drags you do. LOL, I tried to do so along with you (I was using the Prodigy) and I guess these old lungs can't keep up with your young ones. But again, be careful, your lungs will get old to soon and too fast if you abuse them, even with the Iolite.

i went to the store and got some cheap pipe tobacco in a pouch and i have been using it - good flavor and heavy nic punch to it - my wife brought home some marlboro regular cigs and i tried a pinch of that in the iolite - man it tasted like nasty old stale trash ! ! !
i am not kidding - it tasted so bad that i could not take more than 3 puffs then i dumped it .

so far for the last few days i have not been hitting the ecig at all - i have been hitting the iolite about 5 or 6 times a day and each time i only put a small pinch of tobacco - so by the end of the day i have only used about 1 analog worth of tobacco or maybe just a little bit more but not much

the good thing is that i haven't had any more panic attacks and when i hit the pipe tobacco it is strong and i usually don't hit it again for over an hour

the weird thing that i noticed is that it seems like the iolite is heating up more than it used to and i think i am starting to get a little smoke from it

when i get done though the tobacco doesn't look burned but it is turned quite a bit darker

maybe i didn't leave it on long enough before and now it seems the longer i leave it on - the hotter it gets - it starts getting so hot that i cut it off thinking it is getting too hot

if you leave yours on for over 5 minutes - does it start getting hot almost all the way down the ribbed heat fins ?

i think to start with it only got hot close to half way down the fins now it is getting hot almost all the way down

and it seemed like at first the plastic around the chamber was getting pretty hot but touchable for a second or so but now it gets so hot you can hardly touch it for a whole second

anyone else notice it seems to get hotter than it did at first ?

i have a dehydrator and have been making super spicy beef jerky for years but
hey - you can make beef jerky in your oven if it can go to a low enough tempurature - just set it down to about 185 degrees farenheight - or about 85 degrees c

look on the web for some recipes

Hey edlogic I don't know how much nic I can normally handle but for some reason the stuff Andy sent me seemed to be pretty potent, or maybe it was the fact that I had never used home grown tobacco before??? I've used the iolite for an hour straight before and yea it gets hot but who cares if anything goes wrong back to the manufacturer it goes. The pipe tobacco looks tempting but I don't think I can order tobacco of the net customs will probably seize it or I'd order a few of the cigars I saw on those sites. And another thing I did look into making jerky in my oven but the whole process was way too time consuming so I didn't bother.

Beef Jerky made easy, via Alton Brown:

    YOU NEED:

    A box fan
    A few furnace filters
    Bungee Cords

Lay your marinated meat on the filter slats and then stack the filters and set them on top of the box fan. Use the bungee cords to hold them in place. Turn the fan on and let it run for 12-24 hours. Yay. Jerky.

Remember, the best dehydration happens *without* heat. This method turns out awesome jerky very quickly for very little money.
