I have been stopped a few times and asked what it was when I was vaping in a hotel I was staying in this past weekend. Ever one of the hotel employees talked to me about it for about 5 minutes, and a bunch of them went to our vendor rooms to get one. They all loved how it worked and were very happy tht they could allow us to vap in their hotel without being in violation of any bans. A few of the hotel employees even defended me to the older folks that didn't understand it. Fortunately mine has a blue LED on the end of it that really helps cut down on the people thinking it is a cigarette. Mine is a black pen style as well.

Typically, I explain very politely that it is a replacement for me that is a personal vaporizor and the liquid in it is a sugar based flavored liquid. I then typically take the time out to take out my cartridge and show them. Noone has ever kicked me out or been rude to me after I explain politely what it is. For me the selling point has always been, "there is no tobacco in the liquid."

I have found very simply that if they approach me I tell them very politely what it is and let them ask questions. I have even handed over my e-cig to the person asking about it and let them take it apart and play with it.

I am a big proponent of being polite and informative. I have found that if you let them get out the shock and yelling, wait politely till they are done having the small fit, and then explain it to them in a clam and rational manner, I have never been asked to stop. IN fact, I have started carrying around business cards with suppliers websites on it because I get the requiest for information so much.
