Bartender Says Its Against the Law
Had a b-day party for husband at a bar when bartender saw e-cig said can't smoke it in here against the law. Tried to explain it but to no avail, rather than cause problem let it go went outside. There was another e-cig smoker in our group. I would have pushed it and told them to call police but didn't want to disrupt the party.

OK that's it!
We're all coming out to Bourbonnais, Illinois, what's the name of that bar?

Best not to cause confrontation, some people won't understand no matter what you say.

They're just jealous cuz they want one too. lol

yeah i have had this problem too. They are worried that people think you are smoking an actual cigarette and they will light up in the bar too. They are definitely not illegal. He is just incompetent.

You guys really need to give this bartender a break! Incompetent? This is a NEW technology, and it looks exactly like a cigarette (or close). How is he supposed to understand when he has obviously never seen this before? I'm on his side, and you should have definitely asked for his permission first or told him beforehand, so you would have had a chance to explain; instead of looking like a deviant.
Good day.

I showed and explained mine to a bartender last night he thought it was cool but wouldn't let me smoke it inside. While outside I showed it off to a bunch of smokers leaving the girl I was on a date with sitting at the bar by herself for like 10 mins.

He decided to err in favor of the law.
Can't rightly blame him.
Then you have to consider that even if he was convinced that what you were doing was legal, he'd probably have to field complaints all night from patrons who thought you were smoking. God help him if someone decided to lodge a complaint against him.
Who needs the hassle?

And what do you think they would have done? Made the bartender allow you to vape inside? I believe establishment owners (or employees) have the right to disallow vaping in their business. You might stand a better chance trying to convince the actual owner of its merit and having him make a rule to allow it in his business, rather than involving the police.

You could write to the health department or whoever is in charge of the smoking ban where you live and ask them to state if e cigs do or do not violate the smoking ban. That's what I did. If you want bar owners to let you vape inside, take a copy of the letter with you.
