She knows that cigs are bad, that she doesn't want me to smoke, but she's really cool with the e-cig. I just started and quickly went through cartridges (didn't realize some things and some dried out on me - waiting for my order of e-juice so I can stop the real cigs).

    That's cute

Well it urged me to try other things...my parents were big hippies and my mom smokes analogs (now converting to ecigs) but they always hid the other stuff they smoked and rarely I would see my dad outside smoking something and I didn't know what they were doing till i found their rolling papers hidden away and then I was eager to try it haha it turned out bad but hey who knows what would have happened if they were completely open about what they were doing so I don't know...

That is soo funny and too cute.
I turned my cop friend onto ecig too. Now he can chase down gang bangers without hacking his lungs out.

So, my question to you as a fellow mom is how to you feel smoking the fake cig around them??

Is vaping something you would allow them to do around you when they got older?

Just curious as to what phsycological effect my vaping will have on my daughter...
We didn't smoke in the house, but the kids knew we smoked. Neither of my teen boys (16 & 19) smoke nor have any interest in it. My 8 year old step daughter understands that PVs are so we don't smoke real ones and wants her mother to use them instead. Of course, her mother says the FDA says they are worse than real cigarettes.

My 3 year old doesn't even notice them, other than to play with the LED on the battery.

I use my PV in the house now.

I think if you tell kids they are like a treatment so you aren't smoking bad tobacco, that will make them seem more like medicine and all kids hate medicine! (Just don't tell the FDA, lol!)

We constantly told the kids how bad they (analogs) were and how we wished we had never started and urged them not to start either, because they are NOT cool. I think they got the message.

My mom and dad both smoked growing up, only me and my siblings had no idea my mother smoked. My father did it openly, my mother would go upstairs to the bathroom and be in there for awhile chain smoking. None of us ever realized.

Skip to several years later...we (the 4 of us) still have no idea my mother has been smoking our whole lives. My sister "S" started smoking when she was 11. My sister "R" started smoking at 15, and my brother "S" started smoking when he was around 15 too. I started at 20 (long story). Once we were in our late teens and early twenties, my mom revealed to us that she smoked all those years in secret because she didn't want us picking up the habit. Dad died when we were young (not smoking related), so she figured that since we didn't see anyone smoking, we wouldn't pick up the habit.

It was a little funny, since my siblings all hid their smoking from my mom for a few years, and my mom was hiding her smoking from them at the same time. At one point, my mom knew my brother was smoking, and he knew she was, but they would not let the other one see them smoking and both kept pretending they didn't smoke.

I don't know what any of this means in regards to how a child perceives the smoking and what they do with that knowledge. For me, I didn't think anything of my dad smoking. It was just something he did. My mom not smoking didn't make me want to not smoke. It was just something she didn't do (or at least I thought she didn't).

The PV will be good for me in so many ways, but the biggest one for me is that I won't be affecting my daughter's health. I'm the smoker that gets crap from other smokers because I smoke inside my house and my car. I feel guilty about it, hence trying to quit a million times a million different ways. My doctor told me that the second-hand smoke is reduced by going outside, but that it still clings to your hair, skin, clothes, etc.

    Thats a funny story.

When my niece was 4 we went to a restaurant. As we got to our table she says "Momma look at those brown people!"

Its funny how kids say what they think. They don't have years of practice in tact or politeness.

I have an 11 year old and a 2 year old and never smoked in the house. I do vape in the house though. One day I am sitting at my desk and I look down as I'm blowing out vapor and my 2 year old is sitting there mimicking me, putting her fingers to her mouth (like you would an unmentionable) while sucking in and then letting out a very relaxing exhale. I almost fell out of my chair. Not sure exactly what to think about it...but I'm definitely going to try to find a way to nip it in the bud (no pun intended).

My 11 year old is very happy that I'm vaping and not smoking. She thinks its great. I've also explained to her that its still not something that anyone who wasn't a smoker should do and it still has nicotine. If they FDA is reading, she has no plans to start vaping.

Hence why kids say the darnedest things was one of the best shows ever when I was growing up...
