Its almost counterintuitive how its easier to stealth vape with a larger pv. I got comments all the time with white 808's and nada with a black silver bullet with a 5ml tank.

I hope you're joking. Try searching "vaping" and "e-cig" words used plenty here. I only get one hit on the first page with Google and no hits on the first page with Yahoo. If you can't take over the topic on search engines when it's the topic of the forum you certainly wouldn't take over other topics because of mere mentions of words. Search engines don't work like that any more.

This forum is big but not so big it can take over the whole internet with random conversation. There are many other forums out there much bigger that are also having random conversations.

The thought that someone could take the words out of context to spin things in a negative light and claim, "ECF mentions _____ 15,537 times" is valid, the search engine claim, not so much.

You do realize that no one cares if you vape. If you do it with an 808 people think you are sneaking a smoke. Sneak vape with something that doesn't look like a cigarette and they don't care. You could just do it openly too.

I have been propositioned precisely once by someone trying to sell me something illegal because he misunderstood what my PV was. This was at a bar, and it was incredibly obvious that the guy was looking for people to purchase his illicit product, as I was not even close to the only person he made the offer to. Frankly, I'm surprised he wasn't tossed out on his keester.

On the flip side, I have had multiple people ask "is that one of those electronic cigarette things?" curiously, or go "what -is- that, anyhow?" probably about fifteen times just in the last week. Most of the time, it's met with curiosity. Depending on what I'm vaping, sometimes it's met with very eager curiosity.

I was at Disneyland the other day and had someone follow me for a bit because they were trying desperately to figure out what the heck I was "eating". They finally broke down and stopped me to ask what that wonderful smell was. I blame it on the fact that I was vaping something which smells and tastes like those raspberry Zinger snack cakes that a lot of people gobble up as kids. It really, really does taste phenomenally good. And it smells it, too! The person thought it was really cool, and said they were going to look into one, not only to quit smoking, but just because it smelled like a little slice of heaven. And I really had to agree. It is, indeed, a little slice of heaven.

So... realistically, pick up something like a kgo or Riva that doesn't look like a cigarette but also doesn't look like one of the non-liquid vaporizers (it's really easy to avoid ones that do look like those, actually), and vape away. So long as you're friendly and polite in your responses, and you don't try to act sneaky or look suspicious, nobody's going to think you are being suspicious.

If I had three hookas in my house I'd be doing more than giggling.

I've had people think I was drinking alcohol when I had plastic cup... but I don't drink alcohol often.

I've had people think I was driving drunk when I dropped a cigarette... but I don't drink and drive.

I've had people think I was smoking a cig in a non-smoking area... but I was vaping.

I've done lots of things that were mistaken for other things, usually not paying any attention to what they thought or a quick explanation would make everything okay. I now use a wood box to vape, and so far no one has said a word. My neck of the woods "other things" are not common in plain view, so people just think whatever they want and go on.

I've vaped in front of cops a number of times. Last week, I was the tournament director for a dart tournament. For instance, one of the dart players got into an argument with his girlfriend, did some screaming and yelling, and the cops got called. I went out to check on him (do I call him up to play a game? Do I work something out because he's being arrested or banned from the bar?) and I ended up talking to the cops about what had happened. (Not much, unless it happened away from me.) I didn't even think about it. I vape all the time, so as I was talking to them, I was vaping. They didn't say a word about it, and I didn't think about it until later.

Not long ago I saw a cop looking at me as I vaped in a restaurant after I ate. Smoking in that same restaurant would be illegal. He didn't say anything to me.

I suspect that most cops are familiar with vaping. They may not have a lot of experience with it, but I think most of them know what they are.
30 years of smoking, over 3 packs a day before I started vaping. Then I bought my first PV. Cigarettes have lost their power over me. I've been free since 10/06/2011. Thanks ECF!

There is no battle with big tobacco. They could care less. It's Big Pharm that is organizing and paying for most of the negative commentary.

Google. ECF doesn't want vaping to be associated with drugs in any way. If someone Google's <that word> vape and ecf shows up, that would be contrary to that policy. [Edit: Beaten to it...]
Plus, an objective ban on certain words makes it a lot easier on the mods than trying to enforce it subjectively would be.
We all know what you meant. So it's no big deal.

And I've had the same thing. I get a lot more weird or hostile looks when vaping something that looks closer to an analog than I have when I use something that doesn't.

But the main thing is letting people use whatever works for them. A lot of people choose the analog clones because it gives them the same feel they're used to with smoking and makes it easier for them to transition. Mods are mostly to address things that the analog clones don't provide. If an analog clone provides everything a user wants, there's no need to use a mod.

And his worry isn't without merit. If I didn't know what an Ecig mod was and wasn't fairly sure no one would be stupid enough to use one one of the other things openly (the smell would be a dead giveaway), I'd assume it was the other thing before I'd think "electronic cigarette".

Many people take the awareness of Ecigs for granted but there's a lot of places where they're still very rare. Most people have never seen an Ecig at all and most of those who have, have only seen the disposable analog clones or at most, an Ego clone at a mall kiosk. Something like a Provari or Silver Bullet is still an alien concept to most people but Harold and Kumar, Half-Baked and many other things in the media have made the other thing quite familiar.
