| E-Cigarettes in Public Have you used e-cigarettes in no-smoking areas? How did those around you react? Is it the perfect way around the smoking ban? |

Funny....I've been giving the full pat down with a threat to be hauled off to jail all for JUST smoking (not vaping) on the platform while waiting for the EL (Lawrence Redline Stop to be exact). I normally drive and had decided to take the EL down for a concert, so I've never actually noticed there were No Smoking signs up there since I rarely ever take public transit....it is outside and all, and someone is ALWAYS smoking on the platform. Anyhow, my thoughts exactly... "pestering someone for smoking would be silly." but, guess not for the two that though I needed to be taught a lesson. I now wish I would've gotten their badge numbers....not like it would've done any good reporting them with all the corruption within the Chicago system, I would've just been laughed at!

I am LOVING all these public puffing stories! lol! I'm still waiting for shipment of my first e-cigs, but as I read I'm already feeling "liberated"! I can't wait to join all of you! |

No stories from the UK yet? I'm not brave enough to be a pioneer yet. ![]() I wonder how it is regarded here?

I was on a long distance train last week and very quietly and discretely vaping on my silver 901 (holding it in and very slowly letting what remained out) when I heard the following announcement: "We would like to remind all customers that smoking on this train is strictly prohibited. Any person found to be smoking will be removed at the next station and handed over the the British Transport Police." Now whether someone spotted me and told a guard or whether someone else was really smoking elsewhere or whether they just say this on all train journeys, I do not know. Needless to say, I wasn't taking any chances and thereafter just went to the toilet for a vape-break. I've found that since giving up analogs I can easily go for much longer without vaping compared to when I smoked. On the return journey however, I happen to be seated in such a way that no-one else could see me so I was able to use it more freely (but still discretely just in case someone walked past at the wrong moment).

Get kicked out of a restaurant? I plan to take my wife to a nice, expensive fancy restaurant, and vapor before finishing. When they tell us we have to leave, I won't mind...they'll be giving us a free meal. If we can't finish the meal, they can't charge us for it and if what we are doing is not illegal, then they have no recourse. :-)

pardon me for going against the grain here, but I would think it's not a fantastic idea to be vaping in line at safeway, and other places where the value is going to be at it's max. It's going to take people quite a while to understand what is going on. I mean, there is still 2nd hand nicotine in the air correct? The stories are quite amusing about the cops, etc, I can just see people making rash judgements based on mis-information or ignorance. It's kind of like how the locals in Amsterdam look down on the Americans that go to the coffee shops and smoke their herb in blatently public places, just because it's legal. It's just kind of tacky... /squarebear |

It's just kind of tacky... If you went to your expensive restaurant and plugged in a Glade Air Freshener, they would probably make you leave as well. Likewise, if I went to your house fresh from the taco truck and started farting up a storm, you would most likely get pissed and want me to leave. /squarebear |

| You need a couple more messages before you get edit privileges I think. I'm inclined to agree with you about being too showy when vaping in public. I generally don't vape anywhere I wouldn't have smoked tobacco before all the bans, which includes in stores and crowded restaurants. In bars I'll either just go outside or - if I know the staff - make sure it's ok to vape inside first. |
