So far I've only given the demo to a few coworkers. I like telling people about them, but I also like pointing people to here so that they can get answers to questions they didn't even think of. Made one convert out of the whole spiel.

Personally, I think that you guys that are being approached and doing this explaining are great and even though it wasn't me you explained it to, I still want to tell each of you you a 'thank you' for doing this, and for you to remember that this also shows something about each of you that you must be more 'approachable' and 'inviting' (especially in settings where its been complete strangers) than you even realize (you must be giving off good things, good 'vibes' or whatever).
Also, curious, how many times has it been the opposite sex that asked you about e-cigs?
Did you ever think that in addition to curiousity about the E-cigs that it just might make a great conversation piece just for the sake of the conversation (afterall the old 'weather' etc small talk dialog only has so much value and can only go so far)
anyway, I think you're all great and doing a great thing, but I also understand getting tired of being a human information vending machine (I have a non PV thing that can bring about a similar response, but even it isn't as extreme as some of you are describing)
some (modified for PV) tactics you might try if you're really needing a break from all the explaining:
you might try little body language things, like 'vaping' while standing a bit apart from others and/or with your back slightly turned and don't seek eye contact (most people do this without thinking I think, you don't have to avoid people's eyes, but you also don't have to do that eye seeking thing I think most people do), and when you've been explaining a bit but are getting done with/tired of explaining, start making your answers more short, put the e-cig back in your pocket, change the topic, ask them a question about something unrelated. You can do all those with a smile even to show you're not a 'grumpy gus' about it, but it can signal to others in a nice way that at least for just now its time to move on from it, etc.
Man, I WISH I had these kind of responses. I really, really want to talk about my PV and it's not for the lack of trying. For whatever reason the town that I live in (Grants Pass, OR) the people are just not that open minded or my other theory is they are zombies. I'm betting on the latter... I've vaped in every place I've went since I started with little or no reaction to it. I'm not being sneaky with it either. In fact, just today I was sitting down at the sushi bar and blew my vape directly into the mans face who was sitting next to me. He looked me in the eye... then continued eating. What do I have to do to get some reaction out of these people??!! Grrrr...
Bloody hell, I just wish everybody came to that state of not bothering at all. Not only 'no dirty looks' or complaints but no looks at all. Just accepting vaping as if it was the most natural thing. Well, perhaps me as a continental European I'm perfectly comfortable with discretion in public. We don't really talk to strangers that easily over here as you guys in the US.
I sometimes get amused looks or giggles as if I was some sort of android mimicking a puff. At work people had a good laugh when I first pulled my e-cig out. On the train I rather get the occasional looks that seem to suggest 'didn't you see the bloody no smoking sign?' People over here usually don't dare saying anything or just don't give a monkey's. Perhaps it's just me and I'm paranoid. I don't know. The official smoking ban in public places has been enforced only a month ago in my region so a lot of people are not even used to a totally smokeless environment yet.
Wow....I am so envious of you...you have no idea. This is my dream. To be able to vape/smoke anywhere and just have people ignore it. It used to be like this in the 50s. I remember (not that it was that long ago) when I was smoking my cigarettes and I would watch movies from the 50s and 60s with people smoking everywhere in hospitals and doctors offices and no one said a word about them or even looked at them and I used to think, "Wow...its like another planet".
You are lucky. Just take a drive out of your town somewhere else and I'm sure the mobs will be all over you. And then when you get sick of it just go back home and enjoy your peace and quiet eating sushi and vaping. MY GOD, after typing that I am just seething with envy that you got to go to the sushi bar and vape without a single person even looking at you!!!!
You just reminded me of a night I had with my health nut buddy. My health nut buddy is a runner and all kinds of stuff. But he probably is the coolest health nut on the planet. He never gave me any crap about second hand smoke or smoking around him or getting the smoking section when they existed. So I was hanging out with him for the first time since getting my PV. We were at a bar called "Harrigans". I let my health nut buddy take a little suck off my PV to taste the flavor and I just told him not to exhale cause he was curious. Like I said he is a pretty cool health nut and realizes that one puff or vape is not going to doom you whether it be an ecig or an analog. He seemed pretty astonished at the taste and enjoyed it however he did add that he had no desire to smoke. I told him of course he has no desire....he isn't a smoker. However my buddy does have a weakness for the ladies. And I swear to you as I was sitting with my buddy at our table. Our waitress came up to us who was fairly good looking and immediately started asking about my PV and how she wanted to get one. My buddy laughed a bit at the waitress being so friendly with me, but he didn't read into it that much thinking it was simply an isolated incident. Then another much more attractive girl with a tray of shots came up to our table became very excited when she saw me vaping. She sat down next to me and classically introduced herself to me and started asking me what I did for a living and if I lived in the area. Every time I took a puff on my PV she stopped talking and stared adoringly at me saying "That is just incredible! You are so smart for getting that! You look so good doing it too!" After this my buddy started asking me exactly how safe the ecig was. I knew what he was thinking and jokingly talked him out of it.
So if you are asking if the PV will draw in the opposite sex. It certainly does!
I like explaining it too. I uaually have to explain it to analog smokers because most smokers wanna quit. The number 1 questions I'm asked, and I'm sure it's yours too, is "Does it work?" "Does it really help you quit?" I tell them it worked for me and I've tried everything.
My only problem is when I am explaining it to people that do not have and will not use the internet. I don't want to be their only source of information. I am just beginning. I don't have the answers, and I certainly don't have time to search for them for everyone else. The people that I have been able to point here, great. The couple that sat down with us in the bar a few nights and watched us use our PV and fill it and talk about our problems, fine. I ordered them a kit and have faith that she will fiddle with it as needed. But the people that just want a kit for their dad and do not have internet - well, I'm still debating what to print off for him to go along with it...
I used to smoke cigarettes primarily to take a break from work, and stress, and problems.
I used my smoke breaks to get away and be alone with my thoughts for a few minutes.
I did NOT want to be bothered, and I did NOT want to be talked to.
I would always make sure to go off away from other people.
But now, there is no time limit, and my electronic cigarette will not keep burning without me.
So I have no problem taking the time to talk about it a little and send them here.
But my smoke breaks have gone from about 8 minutes to about 15 minutes.

I created a really long email that contains a wealth of information as well as links to various forum threads and videos. When folks ask me about my ecig, I just tell them to give me their email address and I'll forward them the info. This keeps me from having to give a vaping seminar and returns things back to normal conversation.
