I haven't smoked in so many of the non smoking ares for so long I don't mind waiting to vap when I am in a smoking area. I don't feel it's a good idea to vap and get some people worked up and upset. My thoughts are it will only give vaping a bad name if we try to push our doing it to non smokers. Some people will just never understand why we vap or accept it.

But in public is where the attention is. The more people who understand what vaping is, the sooner the stigma can be melted away. Might be socially acceptable since it truly doesn't affect anyone else.

I try to vape in public as often as possible. Sure, it means I have to explain it a lot, but if it makes life easier for my fellow vapers in the future, it's worth it.

I was at an outdoor concert last night, with cops everywhere, and I vaped openly in front of then just to see if they would approach and ask questions. Not one, even though some people did look at me oddly. I'm getting used to it now. I've only seen one other person vaping, and that was on the expressway.

I vaped in a few bars, but I usually show it to the bartender first, to avoid any hassles. Every time they have been totally cool with it.

I even vaped in the waiting room at the dentist. No hassles from anyone yet.

I did some stand-up comedy last night during which I vaped on stage. I got no hassles from the bar staff or anyone, largely because I pretended to light my Evo with my finger.

I vaped at a local pizza joint last night. The owner has been B****ing she can't smoke in her own resturant for months. She was overwhelmed, made me vape in front of everyone!!! I gave her awsomevaper's web address and a must have list. She was leaving early to order her own PV's. Arno better hook me up, that's the fifth person (I referred) that I am confident has already ordered from him.

Default Why not vape in public?

I'm new here - this is my first post. I started vaping on October 16th and haven't had a single analogue since. I was a pack-a-day+ smoker for 35 years and I dropped them without a backward glance the minute I took my Vapor King out of the box.

I really think that vapers need to fight back against the no-smoking laws because vaping is NOT smoking and it should not be viewed as such. Smokers have been so browbeaten that even when they stop - and vape instead - they skulk around like they're breaking the law. It's ridiculous.

Speaking for myself, the biggest reasons why I took up vaping and gave up cigarettes are:

    • I hated the smell
    • I hated the inconvenience
    • I hated being a social outcast

Why on earth should I go to a smoking area when I'm not smoking? I don't want to smell like cigarettes and I don't want to breath in cigarette smoke. That's why I am vaping instead of smoking. I am trying to heal, not compound the problems created by long-term smoking.

I just took a 5-day road trip. I vaped [discreetly] in restaurants the whole time. Nobody noticed. If they can't smell it or see it, what on earth is the problem??

So far, since August when I started, I have vaped in:

-Every bar that I've been to (though sometimes discreetly, covering the led)
    -The bank (somewhat "accidentally")
-at least 3 grocery stores, usually discreetly in the aisles
    -a Wal-Mart
    -a Target
-just about any restaurants I've eaten in, though usually in the restrooms.
-a doctor's office, while I was waiting for the doctor

Hardly anyone ever notices. When I'm in bars that I frequent, I am much more open about it than when I'm in other indoor spaces. Usually the worst that will happen is that another patron will ask me about it, and I'll explain that's it's an e-cig, or a "nicotine vaporizer thingie", or something to that effect. Once, I went off on a bit of a tangent about my being from the future, and that "everyone's doing this in 2017", even adding that I had checked with the paradox committee and that they assured me that my talking about it in 2009 wasn't going to endanger my existence in 2017. I'm pretty sure this was met with general amusement, though my memory of this event is a bit fuzzy as I was at this point several beers into my evening.
