Steam...
Water Vapor is Steam... Steam has a smell... I swear it smells like a dry Cleaners.. Also, i just had a leak with my chevy,, the water pump was shot, during the couple weeks of finding that out that was the problem which i did get fixed, That smell which was the steam from the water leaking, not the antifreeze, but the water itself evaporating is what I know your mom is talking about. A humid morning has the smell. boiling tea kettle.. just walk near it.. Just my take on that..

Just another note:
I know your going to say, there's no water in this...but there is,, and i am also in a band that uses a fog/smoke machine constantly... Same smell, some people call it antifreeze smell, dry cleaner smell, and so on and so forth... ok, thats it from me...

Oh, maybe it's the pg that people are smelling. Don't fog machines use pg? And that is a really distinctive smell.

BTW, my husband says it smells like the air that comes out of a vacuum cleaner.

My husband says Kent, Cotton Candy, Cola and Dr Pepper smell like caramel corn. The fruit flavors smell like the fruit...particularly grape which has a grape jelly smell.

My friends tell me I am a walking "Plug It In" now.
