One for TB
Thought I would post my weekend experience just for you TB, since it jibes so neatly with some of your predictions.
I vaped in front of some friends of my folks, wasn't thinking about it, and right away they were all OMG SMOKING. A couple of us chimed in right way, no no no, and started trying to explain. They didn't really get it of course, and I was preparing to quietly illustrate and educate, when instead the wife started making, very seriously, these exaggerated physical seizure motions, and proclaiming loudly, "I can feel the nicotine hitting me, I can feel it!!"

Dramarama ... too funny

Between the OP and Kate's cat pic, I now keep picturing Red Foxx from his show in the 70's when he would fake a heart attack and say, "It's the big one, Elizabeth. I'm coming home."

hehehe you're both about right.
They are former smokers who smoked for way too many years to be lessening any risks of their own with such productions. And perfect examples of why I'm not comfortable with the fanboys around here who promote ecigs by castigating smokers and hyping propaganda.

Amen and thanks for the story.
At work, my station was visible from the front counter, where customers come to pay bills, etc. My editors had no problem with my e-smoking after I demonstrated it. But .. before long I was told it "looked bad" to customers. I wasn't told not to it, but that was enough of a hint. I joined cigarette smokers outside -- and off property! -- again.
Perceptions matter. And we are all ambassadors of e-smoking. Each of us in public becomes The Face of E-Smoking. And the stories of pleasant surprises or hateful behavior will be told over and over. Opinions matter, too. Be considerate. Surprise people.

Agree with you.
I think some ex-smokers will probably always feel tempted by smoking and want anything that reminds them of it out of sight and out of mind. Their anti-smoking zealotry probably has more to do with them feeling tempted than anything else - a bit like St Augustine's obsession with sex and not wanting anyone else to have any after he decided to stop sleeping around.
I still smoke analogs. I'm using my e-cigs in my apartment so I can smoke inside without bugging the neighbors and I plan to take my Pilot with me when visiting London and staying with a non-smoking friend. Also taking snus and already told her that if the e-cig bothers her in any way, I'll just use those when indoors and smoke analogs outside.

I concur with the statements by Tropical Bob. There is a subset of activist vapers that feels the need to vape any damn where they please, constantly 'pushing the envelope'. They think it is righteous to push the public to the limit of (in)tolerenace. I fear this group does more harm than good by vaping in restaurants, doctors offices, rest rooms, retail stores, etc. These are the folks we should most fear. They refuse to accept socially acceptable boundaries. For the most part, where you cannot smoke an analog, you should not be vaping a PV.

I don't agree with aggressive intolerance on the part of anyone. And don't really agree with you either
Analog bans are too widespread and only getting broader, if not where you live, where many of the rest of the live. Once you avoid beaches parks playgrounds government property entertainment campuses sports facilities educational campuses medical campuses corporate campuses autos with minors your own home if you daycare or foster parent apartment buildings public housing 25 feet from 50 feet from blahblahblah... I don't think new rules from vapers are going to help either, and then we might as well just shun ecigs all together, if the message we send is that they should be shunned.

No disrespect but you almost sound like you have been brainwashed. I don't see the need to go out of my way to annoy others. But if I am not harming others or breaking a law, then I should be left alone. There has been legislation proposed to ban smoking indoors everywhere, even in ones own home and within 100 feet of any structure and 500 feet from any bus stop. That would pretty much eliminate smoking anywhere unless you are rich enough to own 100 acre spread. So would that be enough for you to stand up for your rights or would you just say, OK, I'm sorry?
