The only thing that's missing from the Indulgence engraving is a symbol, but I don't think it's needed. Often times, these popular products that we have don't always have the logos to accompany it.

But, if you see this "stock" engraving enough, it'll be just as normal as seeing the "stock fonts" from Chevy, Ford, Toyota, Honda, Sprite, Dr Pepper, Bic, Pepsi, A&W, HP, DELL, JVC, Panasonic, Microsoft, Xbox 360, etc..... names written that we've grown accustomed to accept.

That's my opinion, and I'm sticking to it!
Out of curiosity I went through your list from Chevy to Bic. None of these appear to be standard fonts. I wanted to copy them here but most of the product pages now are in Flash making this difficult.

I'm a product designer. Logos and labeling are never my responsibility but I work with a graphic designer who may start with a standard font and modify from there. She will spend many, many hours just on one word, even many iterations of one letter and its spacing to the next letter. Beyond optimizing impact and acceptance, there are several other reasons for this including protection from other companies copying the look of your name even if they can't pirate your actual name. We don't see it much in the US but in Asia there's been a fifty year history of brand names like Pony, Toni and Panatonic.

Firstly, what exactly do you consider standard font? I can jump on adobe and run through 200 different font styles, and although there would be minute differences, it's certainly close enough.

Some of those may have been bad examples, some of them are subtly changed from a standard font. Such as Chevrolet. The only alteration from what appears to be a standard print lettering is the e connecting to the v and t, and a small gap between the bend of the R that meets back to itself.

As you pointed out, there is a multitude of reasons for why names/logos are written as such. But ultimately it's to define it as their own, yet keep it legible and familiar to it's viewer, often times through subtle change from the borrowed font.

What battery mod on the market, do you know to have this font or any font? Essentially it is the first to have this script, therefore it stands on it's own right. There isn't a need to customize the written for possible confusion with another on the market.

From what I'm gathering, if Eastmall turned the D backwards, you would then approve of it, because it would no longer be standardized?

They aren't just marketing the name, it's the product. For that matter, there should be eastmall plastered all over this device should that be the intent.

I'm an artist as well. Been a maquette sculptor for 15 years, so I can appreciate art when I see it. I can also accept simplicity at its best. Sometimes, individuality and the customization that's commonly shrouded as art, can surely be,....just plain and simple.

But, enough about the font. Where's the Obsession at?
Nothing snazzy to write, at the moment. So for now, enjoy my sig of nothingness.

are people really arguing over the engraving on the idulgence. really?

while i understand there are some pv's out there with no engraving I just dont get the hate.

I understand people wanting one with no graving but to go on and on over it boggles my mind.

In your hand you dont see it and even when you do see it ,its fine.
Does your tv or car come without a symbol. NO

Di, thanks for the 808 info, i hate the adapters and the news that we dont need one just pushed the indulgence over the top. cause i have other pv's and they all need the stupid adapter.

Now where can i get this juice tank, that looks hot
