That sounds great. Does the OP ask for the OT stuff to be chopped or is it automatically done without asking the OP?

We are addressing ALL forum rules to try to get some community consensus on how ECF should be run.

Some rules that Rachel puts up will be suggestions and may not be implemented, but she's starting with a list of rules common to other forums and seeing how people feel about them individually.

That's a perfect solution.

Well, the only way to do it would be for a poster to make the request in the thread (at the start preferably) and then report the post and signal that they want the deadwood chopped out.

There's no way of having this done automatically, unfortunately.

All that helps explain the rule. The way I read is that is if no no is complaining or asking to return to topic it's o.K.?
Also I still want to know if this pertains to Social Forums? (Staying On Topic) If so I need to make some changes and I really don't want to! LOL

I don't think it should apply to social forum , Conversations in that scenario will move on naturally and need not be stiffled.
Plus you have to apply to a social forum to be a member of it ...don't you ? i think you do anyway...cant remember

Maybe we should make the OP responsible for the thread they post. Like everyone said, if the OP doesn't mind the members going OT then so be it; however, the actual thread would still fall under other forum guideline rules (i.e. Offensive Content, etc..)
