Well, I posted an inoffensive heads-up that turned into a massive blu thread...

I don't wish to be responsible for it in any way.
On the other hand, it may not suit the common good to remove it.

Dilemma.

I dont feel requiring an OP to be responsible for content of others is realistic.

Many times myself I have moved on from posts I have created and never looked back after receiving the information I required or diverted my attentions elsewhere for lack of getting what I was looking for.

If thats what you meant......

No way can an OP be responsible for the content of a thread.

The suggestion is that if an OP states that they would rather the thread be kept on topic, they may do so, and report the post for OT posts they'd like removed.

It doesn't happen often - but it does happen. Similarly, mods often will edit the original post on request (for updates etc) if the 48 hour edit period has since elapsed.

LOL - I didn't mean the entire thread itself - I meant whether or not if the subject goes off topic and if the OP doesn't mind that - then the mods do not have to delete posts.

Oh, I see - absolutely. It'd be impossible for mods to police the threads, so it's down to the OP to "call it in"

I think this one is fair what SJ says. That way mods don't have to be constantly telling people they are off topic and/or directing the threads. I think that even if the OP doesn't state it to stay on topic from the start, they have the right to call for it to go back on topic if it gets astray and then ask for the OT posts to be removed if members don't adhere. Sounds very fair and respectful also.

It is recommended when a member begins a new thread and wants the thread to stay on topic, to specifiy this in the first post. However, if this was not done and a member brings up an off-topic issue, such as politics, within the course of an on-topic discussion, the OP has the right to ask that the discussion get back on topic. If the OP wishes to have the off-topic posts deleted, the OP must report the post so the Mods are notified to remove them.

Need input - Please feel free to change wording.

I like it. Perhaps add - " Continuting to post off topic in a thread where the OP has requested moderation will result in (an infraction)."
