I think that should be unacceptable as well.

First, if someone wanted their real name out there, they'd give it.

Second, Some of us have pretty unique names. I guarantee anyone you find with my last name is a relative. If you were to put my full name and general locale, it would be as good as putting my home address and telephone number. Hell, the only people you'd find in any phone book in the entire state of Louisiana with my last name would be me and my brother. You could throw Texas in there as well, same result.

If you said south of the Mason Dixon line, you'd only get me, my two brothers, and some distant cousin living in Florida.

In certain circumstances, yes. Their names are known to us. As public servants, their offices are, as redundant as it may sound, public buildings. Providing their office address and phone would be allowed. Their home information? No.

There are many web sites, including their own, that make their office information available already.

Walrus, I agree with you I don't want my name bandied about. I have been getting more calls since Praga and I was in the News. The e-puffer keeps sending me e-mail. Should remeined people to turn off their e-mail address on the forum contact list. I was a dumby and left my on.

What about the name and address of a supplier on here. Most of that information is pretty readily available as well.

The bottom line with all of these rules is that it's going to come down to the mod's discretion.

I think a big determination is whether it's business information or private information.

Agreed, but how would a regular forum user know this? If they do not publish their name/address/phone on their site, but include it in the invoice from an order would that be public or private?

Bureaucracy destroys initiative. There is little that bureaucrats hate more than innovation, especially innovation that produces better results than the old routines.

Do not be trapped by the need to achieve anything. This way, you achieve everything.
