Joking and suggestive banter wouldn't be appropriate for a load of hobbyists discussing for example N gauge model trains or Painted Lady butterflies.

Maybe we should recall that we still have a fun side. A lot of our interest is in having a good time. It isnt just a hobbyist's forum.

The trouble with giving people the power to make rules or ban things is that for some reason human nature is such that they just can't stop coming up with ever more ideas for 'more' rules and 'more' reasons to ban things. ....just take a look at all the anti tobacco groups.

yes that is true pete. that is why i think we need to have a set rules. then simple guidelines that way if moderation was done it was either to support the rules or to interpretation of the guidelines.

The post contains suggestive material or offensive gestures.

Maybe nowadays "suggestive" is pretty well OK in most adult circles. Obscene material is another matter, maybe?

Yes lordmage a simple set of basic rules and a set of guidelines for all the rest. The mods must have a great deal of leeway to make their own decisions, otherwise they will be left with no choice other than to be authoritarian and enforce the rules by the book.
