Default Does anyone know how to revive a weak 510 atty?

Any ideas? I sacrificed one by soaking it in alcahol but that killed it. I have another that still produces some vapor but very weak. any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Try to give the atty a pep talk and tell it that if it behaves you will take it out to dinner--maybe Applebees.

My line of attack for weak atties:

1. soak in warm distilled H2O, blow out and dry with heat.
2. Rinse with PGA then blow out and dry at 110 to 140F
3. Rinse with hydrogen peroxide followed by distilled H2O, blow and dry with heat.
4. Final resort is to dry vape a clean dry atty for several seconds being careful not to inhale. May shorten life of atty.

A flooded atty will not always vape so it is good to dry it first.
A dry atty must be primed before it will produce good vapor; be careful not to overheat a dry atty coil.

How do you know the bath killed it? When you soak them, it takes a long time for them to spring back to life. Check it with a meter to be sure;

I usually trust anything between 2.5 & 5 Ω on any atty. The Chinese don't hold good tolerances on these things, and the meter could be off a bit too.

...and the Chinese make the meter too, prolly, like mine. does that make the margin of error exponential?

right, its only MOSTLY dead, which means slightly alive!

after a good soaking in a shotglass of cheap rotgut vodka, i rinse it off with distilled water, blow it out and set it upside down on a shamwow. the magic of Vince comes out of the shamwow and infuses my atty with vapor magic. EVERY TIME. if you dont believe it, i will have vince hit your girlfriend/sister/wife.

Using a Chinese tester to test a Chinese product. We need a large margin of error.

If you weren't so cute, I would come to your house and poke you right in the forehead with my pointy elbow of death for a comment like that!
