    Update, Part Deux.
So today, second day with the 808 clearo, I refill the whole thing, just as I did yesterday. (I used almost all of the clearo yesterday; there was only a bit left at the bottom).

I didn't overfill or get anything through the middle. Set it down for a second. Look over, and it's draining out the bottom!! A *lot*!!! I left it there, moving it every now and then, just to see what would happen. Over the next hour or so, a good quarter of it drained out.

    ...?

Do I need to clean it after every use? Can anyone think of something I may have done wrong?

Is the driptip screwed in all the way and making contact with the silicone cap?

Tx, yes, it's screwed in all the way but there's a gap between the bottom of the black drip tip and the top of the white plastic cap. I don't know if there was a gap yesterday. If it shouldn't be there, how do I close the gap?

And regardless, would that gap be something that would make it drain out the bottom? I literally filled it and set it upright on a napkin. There was no lying-down, upside down or anything.

ETA - just opened up a brand-new identical clearo and there is no gap. So it obviously shouldn't be there and I have no idea how it happened.

That is the only time I've had any leaking with them but I don't think they drained out the bottom. You can bend a paper clip and pull up the cap. Mine has gone down when I've dropped it and jarred it or it can get pused down when refilling.

Thanks, tx, I'm going to put this one aside and worry about it much, much later. In the meantime, I have alternatives

    Default Soft Tip

Received an Echo 650 for Father's Day. Love it. Detected some off-taste initially in my favorite juice, but it seems to have resolved itself. Maybe it was just my taster. The soft, flexible tip bothers me some. With my Kuwako on, I can't clench it comfortably between my teeth as I usually do a pipe. Is there a simple solution for this? A hard tip available? Thank you to all the contributers to this thread who helped me make an informed decision. Got it from Cropduster. As other have noted, Tony is great. I made a typical newby mistake on my order, and he got back with me within a couple of hours -- clarifying matters. I was actually exchanging email with him at 1am. Talk about service.

Tony is great! Tx will have the answer there too. He helped me with hard 801 whistle tips but I can't remember where I got them. I remember the shipping was free so I ordered a 5 pack of 2.5 ohm steel kr8s because it was only a couple of bucks for the tips. There's lot's of places (like Cropduster) for wide holed 801 tips. They are good to have but the whistle tips are better for the kuwako. I boil and widen the holes with a screwdriver shaft and put a nice bend in them.

    Found it. http://www.shop.wordupecig.com/Ecig-...Cartridges.htm
Select "dse 801 hard tip" from the drop down box. The cartridges come in two parts on the 801s. Take the hard tip out of the filler part and you're good.

Kren, make sure you don't fill these all the way up to the top fill line. Fill to the one just below it. When you pull up on the silicone tip as tx described, use the screw on tip to push it back in place. That way you can be assured there isn't a gap. Once there is fluid in there, you may have to wait for it to dry/drain completely before refilling again. It's just the nature of these things. Once a drip starts....it has a tendency to pull more liquid with it.

It also helps....as long as you are pulling up on the rubber....to pull it all the way out and take that bent pin and fluff up the wicks sticking out each side. Pulling the rubber all the way out is needed to dry burn them clean anyway. It's easier than it sounds.

Mine will leak if the driptip is cross-threaded. The tactile response is that it is screwed down tight but then the "bleeding" starts. Out of habit now, I start to turn the driptip as if screwing it down before it actually touches the plastic and keep turning and pressing down gently until it actually is tight. The other thing I do that makes it drip is getting juice down the pipe which is easy to do with a dropper. If I'm not getting the right amount of vapor from a freshly filled clearo I take it off the batt and blow through the driptip and listen for it to stop gurgling and popping, clean it off and then it's okay.
