I looked inside the ionization chamber and saw that the catridge had slightly melted on the inside. Upon further inspection I saw that even though the LED lights were off, power was still going to atomizer. Just by pushing and releasing the manual switch once, the power to atomizer is continuous until I'm able to get the battery out. Hopefully be returning it tomorrow. I'll probably one day air it as this thing kicks so much ass and I hope I'll get it back by the end of the week :[
You must have put the battery in the wrong way (I did and the same thing happened to me but it still works). The instructions did not help me. I finally looked inside and saw the 'familiar' spring down inside which indicates the 'negative' end. Scarry! Wonder if this thing works even better (if I hadn't semi-fried it)?

I am curious about the batteries. If I have it correctly, they are 3.7 v and 360 mAH, but what exactly is the "model" number?
Has anyone found a good source for replacement batteries, and a plug-in-the-wall recharger, preferably one that holds at least two batteries. I see that Janty USA offers the batteries and a single-battery wall recharger.

I don't have a JantyStick but I'm pretty sure that they are 10440 batteries (AAA size). I have brand new pair that I was going to build a mod with but decided to use 14500 instead. I may put them up for sale in the classified section.

@Elendil - do you think the JS is a 'long term device,' compared to your SD?

Quite bluntly, I mean..do you think it'll be working in a year?

I have neither device, although will be in the market for a 'non-cig looking device' in the not too distant future..

I have had my stick for almost 2 weeks. Other than the Janty addy going bad after 5 days (Janty is replacing so no problem), it is still functioning like the first day I got it. My biggest concern would be dropping the stick. It is, after all, plastic. THe SD is metal and unless you drop it on the plastic button, appears to be more durable on the surface.

Ludo (from Janty) has indicated that there is a metal version of the stick coming. I am certain it will be more expensive than the current version. I woulod not hesitate to recommend the stick to anyone, so long as you are not too clumsy

They are 10440. There are very close to AAA in size but not exactly the same size. Do NOT use AAA in the stick.

Hey Elendil,

Is that your actual stick in your sig? It looks different then mine. On yours the end by the LED has a black band that mine doesn't and the litle circle thing that looks like a vent is on the other end of my stick. There also appears to be some sort of button in that black band... Do they have older versions that I might have got or is that the LE or did you just modify the pic?

-edit-

Nevermind, I suppose that is a CAD rendering before the actual stick was built after looking at their website...

Elendil,

Thank you very much for the wonderful Janty Stick review. And double thanks for the followup!

I almost went for a Janty Stick, but got a SD instead based on its tougher construction.

My thoughts went kinda like this: Imagine vaping on a warm summer's day in your favorite park. As your thoughts drift to whatever gives you peace and joy, a radical non-smoker comes and starts screaming in your face about his rights to breathe free and that you are a thoughtless churl to smoke where children, animals and radical non-smokers cavort.

Rudely yanked out of your happy place, like a babe snatched unready from the womb, you hastily gather your thoughts and explain to the raving lunatic that all you are exhaling is harmless water vapor. He still rants on, dripping froth and invectives from his cruelly curled lips. In his excitement, he grabs your shirt and shoves you roughly to the ground.

You see red, lose all sense of control and haul back to smash him in the cheekbone\sub-orbital socket area of his hate twisted face. Now, and this is what sold me on the SD, do you:

A: Punch him with a closed fist, possibly not delivering the power needed to stop his attacks.

B: Punch him with your Janty Stick enclosed in your fist, adding the necessary firmness needed to disable him, but risking the plastic cracking open and slicing your palm, necessitating a trip to the ER and depriving your loved ones of the well earned comfort of your loving touch for a few weeks

or

C: Punch him with your Screwdriver enclosed in your fist, adding the necessary firmness needed to disable him, secure in the knowledge that the delicate tissues of your hand weren't damaged because the SD is made of metal. Wonderful, solid, undamageable metal.

As I stand, unharmed, over his unconscious and thankfully SILENT form, I open my hand and gaze with loving reverence at what is in my palm. Metal. Shiny, strong and true. And I smile a smile of confidence that I made the right decision. For me, for my loved ones and all the persecuted smokers and vapers in this incredibly beautiful planet we inhabit.

Of course the Janty Stick is a damn fine device, for home use. But when it comes to what I'll use in the politically correct anti-smoking battlefield of tomorrow, you can pry my SD from my cold, dead hands.

In any case Elendil, a most excellent review, my Brother! I eagerly await the 30 day followup!

Dickie
