I think I can be objective..Considering I didn't care for my 510 at first...It took me about 3-4 days to beat it into submission lol....At first it burned my throat and I thought> if this is the "throat kick" passsss..I'll take the "lung punch" anyday lol...The atomizer got hot fast (never as hot as some have said theirs did, creating lip blisters etc.. eesh, just say no lol....And the always lurking "burnt taste" that you hear about.....My passthrough, left unattended drained my kensington completely dead within a few hrs ( found out later that this was due to a faulty battery)...

speed forward> day 5...The harshness to the throat has mellowed way down... However the thick copious amounts of vapor delivers a nice lung hit..Which can be dialed up or down depending on the juice you use,, as well as the flavor...And if you like wallowing in vapor..Its all here..

Burnt taste-I think is the hardest of the learning curve...At the first sign of a different taste..stop and do your 5 check points> is the atty dry? Is the atty flooded? Need topped off? New filling? Need to clean the battery/atty connection?...None of that works, check on your power sources- check for fresh batt and give your PT the once over.... 9 xs out of 10 you just need a lil more juice...

atty too hot> press button for a Full second before puffing...Let OFF the button a second before you stop vaping< cools the atty down...

The passthrough still s*cks compared to my 901 and 401 PT's...Only in that it nose dives in production after a while..Where as the other two don't.....To be fair, my PT had a faulty battery, replaced it ..much better but still not as consistant as my 901-401..However, you can unplug the 510 PT and still vape off of it for a few hrs, which is cool....But, I'm not trying to be too judgemental yet ..Untill I try the second PT...

As everyone knows the batts Kick a** then quickly s*ck ... But, having the PCC to top off your batts is priceless and takes no time to top off if you don't let them run down too far...

I think the 510 would work reeally well on the right mod... Personally I think a high volt mod would be way too much for the atomizer, which already produces enough vapor power... You just need something to maintain that with consistency and long battery life...So I harrassed a friend till I got his 510 mod lol... I think with the mod /batts+ PCC.. is soooo the way to go....Im learning and it so far has over all the most analog feel in vapor production once you conquer the learning curve..To date, once mastered, is something I could see replacing the few analogues I still cling to....

So depends on what youre looking for...510- is a power hitter..would help someone reduce or quit anaologs ( has the throat hit/lung punch)...But you have to have patients to learn it. But, like with any e-cig..Once you have it down.......
My 401..has decent batteries but I prefer it on a consistent PT..It makes your juices smooooth and flavorful..This is my go to e-cig in the ams, load it with some nice cappuccino mmmmm..With the added benefit of being able to dip the exposed atty as opposed to dripping...
My 901- again on a pt... is completely middle of the road...nice consistant vape... holds decent flavor. most easily gotten and intermixed.. Nice for when you need more then smooth yet not a thoat kick......Id sugesst buying one kit (which contain 2 attys) and just know you will have to beat it into submission for a bit..and youll love it

I am babbling out of total bordom lol..Seriously, I like all my PVs for different reasons and times of the day....But, I'll be honest whether you want to hear it or not lol If "practicable and dependable are your priorities... Step outta the box and walk with the mod squad lol..> screwdriver.prodigy.light vapor.a GG and manny other modders ....( slowly looking up at my leaning tower of font:: oops guess i was really bored lol I'm so not editing all that lol

Please advise vapes and vapettes

Thanks in advance.
Personally, I broke down and got a 510, I don't think it is really considerably better than the 901 but I do love the manual battery. I did just order some manual 901 batteries, So I'm waiting to try those out before I go any further. I would wait a couple of weeks. Several suppliers i have spoken to will have them in stock soon and try that out first to save some green.

I had a 901, that was my first e-cig purchase. I got tired of the inconsistency with the thing after a month and decided to go for the 510.

I LOVE THIS THING. In my opinion, it's just EASIER than the 901. I don't have to mess with it as much.

The battery life is worse, but get a couple extras and that should help.
I get a burning taste every now and then, usually that is cured by topping off or dripping.
Noticed the carts may be melting, that's not a good sign.
And I seem to be using a bit more liquid, but I think it's because I like the thing so much I use it a LOT more.

But other than that, at this point, I feel I wasted money by not making this my first e-cig purchase. Manual batter is awesome. It's so consistent. I would recommend it, definitely. I think this is my last purchase for awhile.

Pros:

1. Better vapor production / throat hit due to hotter running 4 hole atty, longer cut-off period, and of course, manual switch option.

2. Cart holds more liquid than 901. (And they do have less leak, as I've tried myself on my SD)

Cons

1. Battery life (much shorter) - you'd need extra batteries, or PCC.

2. Taste - compared to more pronounced taste on 901, I hear some of the weaker tastes do get lost.

3. automatic batteries is also very sensitive to sound/vibration, I hear... I wonder they fixed the problem. But I think manual is indeed the way to go with 510s...

Now Ruyan Direct is selling 510s and attys at 6dollars each - I do think it's a good option to go with. I might get one myself for socializing, or flying purpose - as SD or any mod does look rather... pipe-bomb like.
This is really accurate, as well as what RazorNribbonz said. I have many 901 attys, on several batteries/mods, and I also have a couple 510 kits. The 510 can produce a good hit without a primer puff, but overall, I would say the vapor production is more, due to being able to use the manual switch, and the fact that it is a hotter atty. On a good hit, and depending on the power source, I can get the same hit, or possibly better with the 901. Depends on how you do it.

If you took both right out of the box, I would say it does outperform the 901, but again, I use mods and it would depend on my setup...

510 comments:

All 3 of my 510 auto batteries shut off after 3 seconds (must be in the logic?).
Reduced vapor on 510 auto batts due to shut off; unless you double drag.
strong if not harsh throat hit.
510 gets hot quicker than RN4081; I hope atty lasts as long.
Manual battery works perfect.
Manual switch requires significant pressure to push (probably to prevent pocket vaping).
510 is more tip heavy than shorter e-cigs.
RN4081 better for instant direct drip by cutting end of cart.
510 does not tend to leak.
510 requires more drag force than I like; More than analog.
A new 510 produces consistent vapor; I have only had 510 for about 2 weeks.
Like other e-cigs the 510 is heavy; wish they could do a weight reduction.
Cart tip is plastic; I've heard some e-cigs have ruberized tips now.
All in all the 510 is a good e-cig.

I have a 901, 510 manual & an adaptever 901 mod. (oh, and an evo. uhhh and a nebula....)
the 510 tastes best to me of all of them- followed by the 901 mod & then the 901.
I use the cig shapes in public & the mod mostly in private. the 510 and the mod give about the same amount of vapor (ie: lots) again followed by the 901
the downsides to the 510 in my book: short battery life (I get about 1.5 hours per)& melty cart syndrome, but the real problem I have with it is that I like to drip and it leaks where the atomizer meets the battery. not.fun.at.all.
the 306 atomizer has the same thread pitch as the 510- I like that atomizer best for dripping- it's easier to hit the mark. gives good vapor too. & not so much with the leaking problem
am hopefully getting a 510/306 adapter for the mod (I like to mix n match)
I like the 901 for longer battery life and the whistle mouthpiece is great once you get used to them.
I think it's wise to have a few different models- in case parts for one are out of stock, or just because sometimes one is more suited to the day/situation/mood than the other.
dunno-just my 2 cents, your mileage may vary...

I adored my 901 until I got my 510...Now my 901 sits in a box, unmissed. It's so nice to have a consistent performer, something that hits the same every time and doesn't leak juice into my mouth. I love the manual batteries -- I kept buying new batts for the 901 because after a week or so, the switch would randomly activate whenever it wanted and my batteries kept wearing out.

The 510 is just so much less hassle. It works like it should, and I love it. Yep, I'm officially a fangirl.

I always keep the tip (LED) elevated to insure dry threads and battery.

The 510 auto battery produces excellent vapor with minimal drag by using pulsing your drag as opposed to a long steady drag.
