Exclamation Products and suppliers consumers should be warned about

Quote:
As the e-cigarette explodes in popularity, so does the number of people trying to make money from it. Some suppliers resort to nefarious means to promote their products. Unfortunately it is not always possible for the forum moderators to find these members.

Without wishing to cause alarm, I just want members to take what they read with a pinch of salt when reading others' posts promoting e-cig companies, especially if that user has only made a small number of posts.

One way members might want to check the veracity of a user's contribution is by looking at their past posts. This is very easy - just do the following:

1. Click on the user name by the side of the post
2. Select "view public profile" from the drop-down list
3. Click "Statistics" then "find all posts by XXX"
4. Take a look at their past posts and make your judgement

Also, if anyone is suspicious about a user, please use the "report post" function - this is a little triangle under the user's avatar, and it immediately sends a report to the forum moderators where they can take the appropriate action.

Many thanks,

SmokeyJoe

Here are some known issues that you might want to be aware of (this was updated 6th June 2009):

SmokingEverywhere - have become a big seller in the US. False claims, very expensive, no return policy and the product is a standard RN4081.

Blucigs - have been getting a lot of promotion on the forum from non-established members. Blu have been monitoring the forum but have not participated here themselves to sort out issues. It's not clear if publicity here is a marketing strategy.

ecig.com - have a reputation for shoddy goods, slow shipping and bad customer service.

Johnson Creek - Some of their eliquids turn green. The cause has been said to be temperature, light or oxidation but is still unknown and hasn't been reproduced by a lab for analysis apparently.

Health products from Dealextreme are said to be cheap rubbish and potentially dangerous.

Intellicigs.com (not to be confused with Intellicig - without the 's') also trading as Logicig - problems with not shipping product etc.

ePuffer - bad customer service, possible scam on currency conversion and restocking fees.

It's not clear if the problems with Johnson Creek are with the new batch. There's a thread here for further reading if you're interested - Johnson Creek Smoke Juice: New & Improved - Comment, anyone?

I can only vouch for e-cigs.co.uk British Bulldog regarding J. C. which make this and this has been performing really well over the last week. Nice and clear and also not killing any atomisers as yet and I've tried this in various atomisers and I have been very happy with the results so far.

Default JC liquid

Hello. I'm RikkusRides hubby, we're the ones who had the "gloop" in all 20 bottles of the sample packs that we got. Our supplier talked to Christian from JC and was assured that these bottles were not from the older batches that many people were complaining about. This order was placed around Halloween, so we assumed it was new. Apparently it was confirmed that these were not leftovers from an older batch.

I forgot to mention Gamucci in my initial post. Their ecigs aren't well regarded here and they don't appear to honour their warranty.

Here are some links to some relevant threads -

The new E-MiniCig frome-cig.com looks to me identical to the Loong Totem

Loongtotem - Terrible service

Gamucci??

I've also been trying the British Bulldog without problems.Again about a weeks use. It was a bit of a leap of faith with me as the last JC juice I tried killed an atomiser almost instantly. However if their new stuff is being supplied with gunge in it, they ain't going to win many friends.

This sounds like a good idea for a thread, However,
I would hope someone can over see it.
Leaves to much room for opinion and not true problems.
I pretty much trust your opinion Kate.
E-cig.com had pretty much been proven they have problems so far.
Will you edit this IF they fix a problem?

Things like JC are hard to put on this list, because the product may have problems, but he has fine service.
What products dont have problems in this community?
I like the idea, if it was a Warning thread with just a list, and no opinion.

We can only go with our own experiences Steele, I'm just trying to tie together information that has been spread across the forum. I'm sure there will be plenty of personal opinions around but the nature of forums is that ideas evolve as more people add their voice. There is no need to edit the original list, if things change people will note that on appropriate threads.

Johnson Creek may have good service but if their product has problems customers will likely want to know about that. I chose them because of the weight of discussion and experiences reported.

Thanks for trusting my opinion Steele, I'm hoping not to add too much of it though. I'd rather let first hand experiences speak for themselves.

I know that all esmoking products have problems but if something is downright dangerous or a scam we owe it to others to share information.

I'll certainly agree with the health products. the semi-automatic cigar i got from DX lasted all of 5 mins before the atomizer got stuck on and melted the manual switch assembly , rendering completley useless.
