usb output =500mA e-cig draw >1000mA what protection is in these to prevent your motherboard going BANG !! that's the reason Janty have the battery !!!

Exactly Apostle! A computer USB does not deliver the power required by a e-cig (or not in my experience). A couple of examples: The Janty USB setup is via a battery box. The battery powers the e-cig, the USB recharges the battery. Toking on the e-cig discharges the battery faster than it's charged and the performance is poor. A direct USB to e-cig link brings up a warning window on my laptop - but not on other computers. I've checked the circuit and all connections are fine. It performs around the same as the Janty/USB/Battery setup - a little better. I've tried using a mobile phone recharging battery pack instead of a computer - but it's no better. I guess the power output is set to match that of a USB - makes sense since anything else would have MP3, mobile and camera customers very unhappy. The best mods posted here (that I know of - not wanting to insult others!) are from Trog, Madog and Bastage. All three use custom battery arrangements. I'd love to be wrong about this. |

even mr.Yangs USB pen goes down the battery box option. see a piccy here not to be negative here , but I sure as hell wouldn't trust an unprotected bit of chinese wizardry messing with my £150 motherboard. maybe Cash could shed some light on it ..
