Hello...I am a newbie here so I apologize for this post if it doesn't belong here. (the forum would not let me start a new thread)...I am new to e-cigs but liked the simplicity of the Smoke 51. I contacted the company and asked some questions about the product and about possible sales opportunities if I ended up loving the product. They sent me a re-seller's "contract" which requires me to fax them a copy (front and back) of both my credit card AND my drivers license! I have a kiosk gift business at a local mall and thought Smoke51 might be a good addition. I buy products from countless companies for re-sell and have never once been asked for such personal credentials like this. Especially since I would be paying for the product COD. Do any of you folks know much about this company and what are your thoughts on this? Their website is classy and high-tech but nowhere does it give the names of the people involved. Under the "about us" heading, it merely says "a group of entrepreneurs" started the company...your thoughts on the company and the product would be much appreciated. Thanks!

Wayneklay..... which site are you refering to ?? I'm curious, as well as agree that the creditcard requirement is improper and out of line. OutWest.... I think your confusing this with SmokeEverywhere. I've had nothing but great customer service with Smoke51 and didn't mind paying a little more for it. EVERY brand out there is having issues with batteries (if thats what your refering to for "quality issues", and their shoot and miss), and in particular the auto ones with a pressure switch. I've been lucky so far and wouldn't hesitate purchasing another unit from them. I know one thing for sure....... and that is the effect the Chinese New Years sure has put on the industry has sure left a foul taste in my mouth with the stocking issues more than anything. Its sure put a customer service strain on everyone all the way down the ladder. VapeOn, Greg |

Smoke51 are the sole US reseller for Loong Totem apparently. I don't know details because it was before my time here but the boss caused a bit of a stink on the forum a while back and has been linked with bad business ethics. Take that as you will, I'm not aware of details. In this business glossy websites mean that the owner cares about looks ... it doesn't reflect substance and value at all. Many of our suppliers are used to being unregulated and piss on whoever they like. This is not a completely respectable business to get involved with. If you do want to get involved I'd advise getting some thoughts from some of the good suppliers who are members of the forum and work with the community instead of trying to take us for a ride.

From the posts on page one of this thread, apparently Smoke51 has their own issues, though

I recently bought one of these smoke-51 cigs after owning the previous smoking everywhere one which was crap. I like it although I haven't owned any other e-cigs being new to the whole idea.. I bought the package at the mall kiosk for 130 (one year warrenty) and gave one battery to my brother so we split the cost for one, my battery died and I just took it back to the booth and they gave me a new one which is one major advantage to buying at the kiosk from what I have read on this forum it is almost impossible to contact distributers and get batterys replaced so I figure why wast the time and money to ship when you can instantly get a new battery for free.. The cartridges are 5 for 10 bucks and last maybe 2 days (no where near two packs) but i figure I will start buying liquid anyways, anyways Im happy with the cig itself tones of vapor, battery life is so so, but in the end I would much have a battery die which is most likely to happen and just return it rather then having to buy a new one, or even attempt to contact one of these online companys to replace it god knows how long that will take...

Thanks Kate for the reply...obviously I was stunned to be asked for copies of my DL and CC simply for the privilege of being a Smoke51 "distributor". Maybe if I was being given a 30 day open account, but certainly not buying product on a COD basis. And yet, new as I am to this technology, I rather liked the idea of a simple device such as theirs - a 2 piece design (atomizer and cartridge in one piece)...10 flavors etc...they are a bit pricey but if you get what you pay for, well? But then I get this "distributors contract" which gives the company the right to charge my credit card for products and "services" (whatever services means, I have no idea) and asks for a photocopy of my card and drivers license (front and back) and I start fearing identity theft...But, I thought if some other folks here of the entrepreneurial type, had dealings with Smoke51, maybe I'd consider it. But from what I'm reading thus far, the product itself sounds as flakey as the company selling it. I will take your advice and spend more time reading this forum before I do anything. There is an awfully large amount I have yet to learn, I can see that. But as a tobacco smoker, I sure would like to make the switch. I'm confident I'd love it as I only smoke Carlton's (2mg nicotine) and with a plastic filter/holder to boot! Thanks for the advice!

sorry to bump this thread up , but I'm turning around on my enjoyment of the Smoke51 product , i have had my 2nd battery die in as many weeks with no word back on a replacement for at least 4 days now. I did finally get my 4 packs of carts i ordered back on Feb5th , the only problem is at least 2 carts per 5 pack are duds , dead , nothing , no vapor.. and the others are weak at best. Slight wispy vapor no flavor , almost a burnt taste right out of the box , i don't know if this was old stock they had around and the liquid just dried up? or if that is even possible. I think i'm just going to forget it and get my GF a pilot or something

I know that there were many issues with the shorter battery with smoke-51's kit. So much so that they discontinued including it in the kits. I have verbal conformation that a new "updated" battery is being released and shipped from China and should hit Canada next week. (I'm told that this new release was to address an internal wiring issue causing premature failure). But, because my purchase had the two long batteries in it, I never thought to ask if it meant that the "shorty" was coming back or not. I'll inquire and post back later once they answer.
