When letting atomizer drain, how much liquid usually comes out? I tried it last night, and there was just the tiniest drop on the paper towel. Also, do you all set it battery-side down or cartridge-side down?

Sorry for that. I was meaning that the atomizer wasn't completely cold and gone, however it wasn't emitting vapor either.

Anyway, it worked for about an hour. Now I DO think it's completely cold and gone.

Regarding the draining and cleaning, from what I've read the atomizer wire will overheat and burn out if it's completely dry when you start smoking again. It needs to be primed with liquid again (somehow) if it's completely void of liquid. That's been emphasized in detailed instructions on several boards. I've had limited experience thus far but lean to agreeing.

Also I agree that e-cig liquid leaves a dark, clogging residue.

If I am understanding all this correctly, nicotine is an alkaloid, correct?

Well, how about using an acidic substance like vinegar/water followed by a good water rinse?

That's interesting. We do use vinegar to clean a lot of things. Well, I'm out of vinegar, I was going to try it on one of my atomizers that produces very little smoke. Now have to wait until I go to the store or someone else tries it.

The most interesting suggestion I've ever read on this said to buy an El Cheapo DealExtreme Ultrasonic jewelry cleaner, take off the e-cig atomizer piece, put it in the ultrasonic unit and clean! I have NO IDEA whether it would work, but it sure sounded techie...

Edit: Found the link to one I read about: DealExtreme: $26.63 AC Powered Ultra-Sonic Cleaner

I guess if all else fails, Karen will order one and open Karen's Mail Order Atomizer Cleaning.

I would probably recommend white vinegar, probably more pure. thought I had some, but all I have is seasoned rice vinegar.

I am going to try that (white) when my juice gets in next week to get that mint garbage out of my atomizer.

I didn't even think of that - I normally buy white vinegar anyway, so its nice to know I would have been safe.
