Default Atomizer break-in period - what is going on?

I thought it would be interesting to consider the atomizer break-in period - what is going on here? Some people have reported that it takes a few days, even a week, for the atomizer to begin working well. Such as this: First Couple of Days...

Understanding this might shine some light on other issues about the life and death of atomizers.

What changes are taking place during the break-in period? Is a little deposit a good thing?? (doubtful but who knows)

    Any thoughts ... ?

A break in period for an atomizer. Hmm, this is the first time I have heard of this, but I hope you are right. In the short time I have been vaping, I have bought dozens of e-cigs. All of them produced great vapor right out of the box, except for 4 of my latest 4 hole 801s, they are wimpy wimpy wimpy. so much so that I threw all of them in a drawer and haven't touched them since. Now I think I will bgrab on eback out and give it a go for a couple of days just to see if it comes to life.

Nicfits - I don't know either (doesn't seem to happen like this with my 901s) but it is quite often talked about. Maybe it's an 801 thing ...

BarryK - "Lowes Gulley": close! Derives indeed from that peak, although as yet a place i've not set foot.

My 306a attys had a breaking in period but it varied. There's probably a shorter breaking in period if you drip. I think that there's a primer on the atomizers and once that is burned through and the eliquid takes over, you get the better vape. Perhaps the primer is absorbing water from the air? Ever vape an atomizer that was sitting around with liquid on it overnight and in the morning the vape seems weak?

Seeing as how it's very subjective, it'd be hard to further pinpoint what's going on without getting some specific data on what the atomizers are primed from the individual manufacturers.

That seems logical enough - and the primer would certainly absorb water.

But surely the primer would be vaped off in minutes. Some people report a week before the atty really comes alive!

Default Update on 801 4 hole atty breakin.

Well I have been vaping on one of what I described in an earlier post as a wimpy 4 hole 801 atomizer for a couple of days now. From what I have surmised in this time, It is my belief that these attys are not running as hot as my 901s or older 4072 penstyles. Not sure on this, just guessing. (Maybe someone can affirm or debunk this hypothesis.)
If this is the case, then this may be the reason why I am not getting as much vapor with them.
I am now using some 4072 battereis on the 801 4 holers and it seems to produce a little better, but not much. I get flavor but not much fog. Also the flavor is not as strong as it is in the 4072s. I Like the easy draw on the 4 hole 801s, but I have to inhale while taking a drag and take it all the way to the cutoff point befire I get any appreciable fog. I'd much rather just take a normal drag (Mouthful).
IMO, my 4072s produce better flavor and fog, but I hate how hard it is to drag on them.

I have heard somewhere on this forum about drilling a hole in the 4072 attys. Does anyone know if this works? And if so, where and how big a hole(s) should I drill.

Have you tried covering some of the holes? You could be getting too much air through there which dilutes the fog.

    Default Break it in

I have asked this question in the ask the experts forum. I have experienced a break in period for both my 401 and 403. for some reason when i got mine the 403 sucked and the 401 was decent. After smoking the 403 off and on for a week something like a poofing sizzling gurgling sound happened and he vaper it my throat so hard i coughed. Ever sense then this little gem has been vapin big! And its my favorite. MY m401 also did this yesterday. What seems to happen is the attys core heats to it max after continous puffs and something about the coil makes it pop i guess. I dont know if there is ny truth to this but ever sense then both attys have been getting pretty hot (not like when the were outta the box) They get hotter and produce lods of vapor?

I dont understand.. Some advice please? Because it could be my imagination?
