Just curious, as I'm sifting through my stock-pile of electronic chips and drivers, but has anyone (kinabaloo?) tried contacting the mfg of the USB Ultrasonic Atomizer (KCA-5D) for a sample?

I've managed to get quite a few specialty circuits / chips / drivers etc as free samples for my projects in the past...

As long as we have reasonable evidence to present our intent to take their product to market (let's face it... we're experimenting here... but the end result hints in that direction...) one could hope they'd be willing to oblige a potential business opportunity.

Company Name:Kaichih Industrial Co.,Ltd. Company Address:3F, No.537, Chung Cheng Road Hsin Tien Taipei Taiwan R.O.C. Company Phone:886-02-22183622 Company Fax:886-02-22186697 Contact Person:Kevin Cheng (manager) Contact Phone:02-22183622

NOTE: Most of my electronic design experience has, up until this point, been centered around video signal processing... so this perhaps a good opportunity for some adventure / change...

I will post (or if anyone else has already derived their own schematic they can post... please...) what I come up with for a reasonable design. (most-likely centered around SMT PCB design so this may not end up being a good DIY for most people looking for a quick / easy project over the weekend.

First off, I suppose I should stop reading these forums and get some more testing done.

kinabaloo, have you made any progress with your tinkerings?

It's a good idea to get some samples. Being somewhat impatient I'd get something from the shop and gut it

Inkjet technology is likely to be ideal for feeding the coil from a sealed (and large ) juice reservoir. But haven't had the time to disassemble one and play with it as yet.

kinabloo, no luck w/ samples (or even a response!!) so far.
But I'm amassed quite of few concepts thus far.
The major problem is focal point length with, I'm sure you've already figured out, depends on the type of piezo element, frequency etc....
I'd love to have a flash-light looking (mini-mag etc) as the basic housing, and embed the element and driving circuitry in the unit...

But so far I'm stuck just wondering as work is consuming me

    soon....

P.S. I just got my first PV 2 days ago!!! The Janty Stick... and I'm hating the burnt taste already!!!

I may be motivating myself soon because of that fact

On the other-hand... it does help me "transition" from the analogs and their burning taste !!!

    Also,

Apparently the Ruyan V8 uses a true ultrasonic piezo based design & element...

I found it in another thread in this forum...

Can I post links to other threads??? is that allowed?

    Sure you can.

Whether that model really has a piezo I don't know. If so, getting hold of one would be a good start.

    Ruyan Atomizers

I heard the cost is pretty high though... $180???
and the Carts cost around $5...
And apparently last just as long as regular heating elements designs...

    hmmm....
