High volt vaping brings atty back to life?

It seems as if I had a couple of atty's that began to give the rancid taste of dry atty combined with possibly gunked up liquid on the heating coil. The vapor production was really low, and it seemed as if the coil took an extremely long time to actually heat up at 3.7V.

I soaked them good in VG and blew them out (not completely) and bagged them hoping one day when I ran into an emergency I would pull them back out.

I've been vaping this particular atty on my 5V passthrough (no battery), and it seems as if it's caught a second wind. It gets hotter than my other atty's do, and still takes longer than normal to heat up, but the bad flavor seems to be gone, and it's producing much better vapor.

Has anyone experienced this? I am starting to think that this particular atty may be on the way out, but I don't know. I'm going to keep it on higher voltage to see how long it will last.

The atty reads 4.3 ohms on a multimeter.

Quite the resistance on that old atty ... But yes, absolutely ... higher voltages can and will bring atomizers back to life
