Hi Luv - I never noticed a cleaning cycle with my Dragon auto. But I know that if it does kick in, you should immediately disconnect the battery. I'm thinking with the newer batteries, this shouldn't be an issue anymore, but I could be wrong about that.

Thx EZ- I hadn't heard NOT to let it happen... Is there a reason?
I just thought maybe I could just let the cleaning cycle take place and not worry about cleaning the atty and risk screwing it up... Oh well- I guess I can clean them... LOL we'll see won't we?

Folks who have moved on to manual devices or manual batteries, have found that a 'dry burn' of the atomizer, periodically, helps to remove some of the junk that builds up on the atomizer heating coil. For the basic automatic devices, this cleaning cycle is programmed in (for lack of better term) to do just that after a set number of puffs.
Many users thought this was insanity and disconnected their atomizers from the batteries when the device went into an automatic cleaning mode. This turned out to be wrong. After the advent of higher-voltage vaping, the work of several forum members showed that the occassional 'dry burn' of the atomizer, in fact, prolonged the life of an atomizer. Why? Well, I guess, the designers of these life-saving devices figured that atomizer health would be enhanced by burning off any accumulation of junk on the atomizer heating coil.
Do not fear the cleaning cycle. If you have a manual battery source, feel free to do a few 20-30 second burns every week or so to clean off any accumulation of past juices vaped. This is based on my personal observations and should be viewed as such. After all, I am a dumbass. I wrote that last sentance using the word ass to see if this forum automatically edits nasty, disgusting keywords. I must be a dirty boy.

Almost all of the threads I've seen about the autoclean feature have one thing in common. People say they get a burnt taste after it happens. If it's low on juice when the auto clean starts, I'm thinking that mightdo more harm then good. Personally I'll pass on the auto clean since I have no control over it, and don't want to chance it. Just my opinion based on reading several threads regarding this. But like many things in the vaping world, something that works for one person might not work for another.
But other then my first 401 atty which died in 2 days, I haven't had any others go bad in 2 months. I don't regularly clean them either. At night I just lay it down on my desk, (on a napkin where my ashtray used to be lol), and pick it up the next day. If it gets a funny taste, I blow it out, and drip fresh juice in it. That usually works. If it doesn't, I'll soak it overnight in Everclear.
