Anyway, wish I brought some poly with me to work today to give this a try. Sounds promising! I think I might try using straws instead of the metal spring...I'm not too keen on inhaling things that have been sitting in metal.

Yeah, but it's not immersed in the liquid 24/7 - it gets vaporized from there. Someone already found that their liquid was turning orange by having the spring in it. So a non-metal or metal that won't corrode at all would be best whether it's a plastic or stainless spring or a plastic straw. I like the plastic straw because you don't have to wreck your pens, it's easier to work with and it's free from a restaurant! LOL!

I found bendable straws at the grocery store. They are narrower than McDonald's straws and flexible part may work really well in the atty - just expand or contract them...

This is THE BEST cart mod EVER. I've tried them all and this is the ONLY one that has ever consistently worked for me. The spring holds the filler perfectly and the filler acts as a vacuum plug(staying wet but not letting any juice to flood into the atty). The best thing about this is , every vape is like an GG AFS vape(full flavor and vapor) and it uses every last drop of eliquid in the cart.

I have 5 carts that have been prefilled with springs since this thread started, I have not even used another cart since the first one cause the cart has lasted so long and I got the refill down to about 15 sec's.. I like to have extras just in case we have to leave to go somwhere where I cant just whip out my juice and fill..
Anyway I just pulled one apart and dumped the juice into a white bowl, then put a few drops of the same product (flue cured) that I used to fill the carts right next to the juice that came out the carts.. there was no difrence what so ever..
HOWEVER.. when I was on my clicky pen quest I did find one spring that looked like a tarnished brass I can defintley see that spring turning the color of the juice..
So if the spring is not a shiny silver dont use it.. Im pretty sure most of the shiny silver ones are stainless.. or try a straw like kristin and a few others do..

I have 6 carts made up with springs (horizontally positioned). I ran out of pens and just recently bought a whole box of coffee filter straws. The straws were too big for the straw mod (which I dicarded that mod anyway for this one). So, I cut the straws to fit side by side in my 510 cart, then capped with my blue foam. It is working great. I decreased my fill size by 1 drop though. I was able to get 14, now just 13. But, a good trade-off. The bottom of the cart is raised in the middle due to the molding process. If you do NOT cut any angle into the bottom of the straws it fills fine. The top surface is now and even more solid base for the filler material (in my case, blue foam).

Another thing, when compressing a spring for insertion, if you opt that route, do not have too much tension on the spring. When the atty heats the cart softens and the spring will widen the mouth of the cart. This will cause the draw slits on the side to narrow and you will have a harder pull when taking a hit.

Ok bare with me for a minute but I'm actually working on a new mod.

Its a hybrid ADM / Blue Foam / Stainless Pipe Screen / Straw - mod

Im going to take a stainless pipe screen and make some cuts with my snips on it so that i looks like an X, except I'm going to have an additional limb so it will actually look like this: >|< (ie 6 legs instead of 4), then the top and bottom legs I'm going to bend back at a 45 degree angle, so it touches the lip inside the cart and keeps the X tabs up near the front of the cart. I'm then going to poke a hole, just smaller than the diameter of the straw and stuff the straw through the middle, cut it to length, with the / (slash) cut on the other side. Finish it off with a piece of blue foam to cut and you have the ULTIMATE aftermarket 510 cart.

The straw plus the two 45 degree tabs against the cart lips will hold it into place keeping the blue foam RIGHT at the edge of the cart (the X tabs hold it there from all corners so it cannot be stuffed on one side. (sometimes my spring moves to the side and allows this to happen) - The blue foam will prevent the errant strands problem (i got some in my girlfriends atty trying this mod for her and basically ruined it because it tastes like ass now) - the straw also helps the relieve the vacuum so that the foam stays saturated at all times.

I'm going to pick up some pipe screens, blue foam and straws tomorrow. I'll post back how it goes, in its own thread if its worth of it

I cut a regular straw down the middle and fitted it to my 801 cart with the halves back to back )( like that. I then put stuffing on top. I did two carts like that. They both worked great. They lasted 4hr. each and I didn't have to wait for them to wick-up. I also cut a triangle at the bottom of broth half straws.

I just did up a cart like this for the 510. I don't trust metal sitting in my liquid. I was using a gold-colored spring and got nervous.

It's starting out okay. I'll see how it holds up tonight.

Next we're going to come up with a contest for the most exotic way that you can cut your straw.

Personally I'm gong to do an origami crane complete with flapping wings...
