Went to the Walgreens in Times Square. Browse all 3 floors and couldn't find them.

With one drinking straw, you put 2 notches at the mouth end and make sure the notches are turned to the short side of the cart, especially if the straw is pressed against the long side of the cart, because you don't want to block them & the airflow.
The face scrub I'm using for the plug is a Walgreen's brand Facial Cleansing Sponge.
Facial Cleansing Sponges | Walgreens
It has a definite grain to it, so it's important that the side of the sponge material is the top of your plug - this lets you squeeze it like an accordian to put it in the cart & it expands to plug the end. If you put it the other way, it'll expand up/down and won't wick at all.

I finally found them at my local Walgreens.. would have been easy to miss. My eyes scanned them like 5 times before they finally locked-on and went VOILA!

Weird....
Usually, when I have it wrong.... it'll leave the atty too dry and I'll get liquid starvation. The only times I've flooded the atty or dumped the load was when I had some kind of gap between the filler and the cartridge wall.
But..... I quite using poly with this mod some time ago.

For the last 5 days I've been using the blue Scotch Brite pad with GREAT success. I run a 901 cart, so I take a simple 5/16" punch and hammer out a bunch of plugs. I use a flush-cut side cutter to put the flat on the plug and I'm good to go. For giggles I put a new plug in every morning. Don't know if it is necessary... but I've got about 50 of them so.... why not?
Kristin over on the straw-plug thread found this Buff-Puff material that she's been raving about. I picked some up at Walgreens and I can see why she likes it so much. It's a "directional weave" material and therefore it has all kinds of options. Anyway... I made a plug out of it.. and it works quite well also. It's a bit harder for me to handle, and I can't use my 5/16" punch trick on it.... so there is some variability that will come from compression and cut size... but on my second attemtp I had it working well.
Oh.... and I'm one of those guys who uses the "vertical spring". The 901 carts don't have the ledge on them. I think the vertical spring has some other advantages too.... but that's just me.
