My first mod using a 6v lantern battery, a mini led flashlight and rca connectors and cable!
Just got done with the prototype of my first mod last night. Started out using the 3 AAA batteries that came in the flashlight that i got at the dollar store for 1.00. For some reason this was putting out 4.45v but was producing way less vapor than my 3.7.
So, i went to walgreens to scope out some 123 3v batteries to place in there, 15.99 for 2 of their brand batteries, pass. Looked over to spot a 6v lantern battery, hmm. $4.49 later i was on my way home with my huge battery.
I knew i wanted the flashlight mod to be part of the finished product, so i just used it for the housing. Tried to decide what i was going to use for connectors to the battery and atty. Wanted to use some of the stuff i had around the house as i always collect it but seldom ever find uses for it all.
First i tried cutting a cheap extension cord up, put the recepticle end on the battery and wired it up, then ran the wire with the plug end on it from the atty. Plugged it in, MASSIVE VAPOR!!! BTW the 6v batt tested out at 6.47v new. I used this for about a day, drug it to work, as I sit at a desk most of the day, so the size isnt an issue. My friend commented that it looked like a "device" and that i shouldnt show it to anyone lol!
Got home last night and thought about the fact that someone might stumble across it and actually plug it into the wall not knowing what it was 120v vape yikes! So, scoured the garage looking for something else that i had, preferably something with a thinner wire, as it was quite cumbersome to bend the extension cord wire. I saw an old dvd/vcr that was out of commission. Took it apart and grabbed two RCA connectors out of it.
Was a bit concerned with the RCA cable being able to handle the amperage, seeing as they only transmit a signal normally, but figured with the tiny wires that were on my stock batt, that it would be fine. With a bit of clipping on the metal pieces on the back, i had some nice little connectors. Soldered everything up, connected the rca cable and tried it out. Works wonderfully! Less than $10 and vapin @ 6V and lovin' it!
Tried to upload some pics on here, my first try, so we'll see how that goes.

Thanks, will let you all know how long it lasts. No, it sure isnt rechargeable. If it doesnt last long enough, i'm gonna check into some rechargeable D size batts, 4 of them will be almost as many MaH
Forgot to mention, according to wikipedia, the lantern batteries are 52,000mah!
Now to put a switch in and pretty it up some!
LOL, I recharge my 3000mah 18650 after about 2 days (it's still registering 3.6v at that point). I figured up that 52,000mah would last me a minimum of 35 days at that rate! Even if they're not rechargeable, environmentally, I'm sure that wouldn't be good, but as far as cost goes, who cares?
I could definately live with a 35 day batt life, might even be a bit longer, as i still use my 3.7 whenever i'm not at my desk, not trying to lug around my car battery through the office lol.

I was thinking more along the lines of having to build a new battery every time. Wouldn't bother me either.
Hey you could buy a cheapo flashlight for that battery and build everything on that. Be easier to change batteries, even has a switch. Talk about a flashlight mod!
Battery rebuilding will be easy, just took one of my rca connectors, soldered some wires to it, soldered some small clips on the other end to connect to the posts, then taped it up with electrical tape, being as i'm all fancy like that
