Default Atomizer Resurrection, Pt 1

This is for 901s and RN4075 atomizers as these are the only ones I have disassembled extensively.

WARNING: This works for atomizers which are "clogged" not "cold." It could (and likely will if done haphazardly) totally kill (make "cold") you atomizer. Only try this on those atomizers that are so clogged as to be useless to you and you have nothing to lose.

Between the atomizer bowl and the opening on the battery side of the atomizer there is a stack of 4 or 5 mesh screens. They are made of the same material you see on the bridge portion of the atomizer. They have a hole going through the middle slightly smaller than the one on the battery connection. If these disks get moved around a little and out of alignment this channel through the disks can become easily clogged or blocked entirely. We need to clear that hole.

My method is to use a sewing machine needle. They are sharp and have a slight bulge (the eye) at the tip which clears a nice path.

First thing, make note of which way the bridge crosses the atomizer. The coil is mounted perpendicular to that. You want to slowly and gently push the needle while twising it through the battery end toward the coil at an angle. You want to angle it to one side and then the other of that coil. (you are aiming for the point where the bridge meets the side of the tube) Hit the coil and you are dead. Make 2 passes, once on one side and once on the other.

If you are successful you will have a functional atomizer again. I've done this on 5 atomizers I had given up on so far and they are back in my rotation now!

Jaxx--you pulled that one out of your hat--I just tried that with 2 of mine and they both fired up. We have not scene this before as after we used the needle a ton of trapped fluid was able to be blown out. So I can only assume the realignment let the inner part of the atomizer clear and they were flooded internally. Was very slow for both of them to refire as I had to keep hitting but after about 20 puffs, Bam--Vaper like a cloud---One of the best posts I have read yet. Thanks Jaxx

Jaaxx, great idea. I didn't have a needle laying about so I tried it with a large paperclip. Worked pretty good and made the draw easier. This atomizer is back in the rotation.

Default Appears to be clearing as well as an alignment issue

I just brought back to live 3 old penstyles (RN4072's and 801's)--it appears that the needle allows the liquid trapped under the coil to clear as all 3 which were already blown out let out a ton of fluid with the needle. Maybe a suction issue where the needle always the flooding to clear. It takes about 20 hard puffs for these atomizers to start vaping again and then warm--they work like a charm. Will try some more I have laying around and update--thanks again Jaxx

I gotta try that on my one crap atomizer. One of these days one of us is gonna have to come up with some homemade gadget something that...
cleans the atomizer of all gunk
re-aligns the mesh
eliminates all residual flavour
cleans the threads
checks ohms and continuity
improves grip on cartridges

you could call it the "Optimizer"

It's a bit late for hunting needles for me but I have around 5 or 6 901, 801 atomisers I could have a poke at.

Thanks for posting, looking forward to giving this a shot tomorrow.

At the end of the day, I don't think it matters whether you are re-aligning or making a new hole. Just a pathway for airflow I think.

About the 801, yeah I have done this to 2 of mine and it worked great. I didn't include it in my post because I have yet to deconstruct one to see if the anatomy is the same.
