got this idea a few days ago but not sure how I'd go about doing it... it apparently works off the same theory as wind powered electric generators the coil passes across an area creating a small amount of current now if I found a way to rig this beast up to a usb cable could I possible create a shaker charger for a pcc? any thoughts?

It is only 3.6v 960mah. I wasn't sure since it's not 3.7v. Also it has 3 contact pads + - and one marked C. Not sure was the C stands for but if it is usable do I just ignore this and connect to the other two contacts? Thanks

During my recent move, I found an emergency Palm charger...

During my recent move, I found an emergency Palm charger lying around that I thought would be great for modding. It's essentially a 4xAA box, but the batteries are arranged 2x2, rather than 4x1, so it fits very nicely in the hand, even though it's a bit large. It also has a battery door, so that you can change batteries without opening up the box. This is a big deal for me, since I hate having to carry a size 0 screwdriver around with me everywhere, just in case I need to change batteries. Add a built-in safety switch, and handy little rubber feet to keep the whole thing from sliding around on a flat surface, and it's a great box to work out of.

At first I thought I'd make a high volt mod, using two 14500s, but lately I've realized I don't like 510 atomizers at high volts. My 801s are great at 5v, but those are more of a novelty for me, since I always go back to a 510 at 3.7v. In any case, I decided to just put the batteries in parallel, so that I could have a long-life device. But that still left more than half the box for me to use, and that just seemed like a waste. So I ordered some 14650 batteries, figuring that 1600mAh is better than 900mAh, even if they were a bit pricier.

There were some serious problems along the way (like 14650s don't actually fit in the battery door without some modification), and I almost gave up a few times. I'm glad I didn't, because I really like the end product. It's a bit ugly, and it has a few problems, but I'm still enjoying it:

As you can see, the two atomizers are very close together, and that's one of the limitations of the box. If you're going to keep the kill switch in place, that's the only way to fit two atomizers. It's not ideal, but it still gives me throat hit like nothing else.

The box came with a nice LED that I salvaged for use in the mod:

Here's a shot of the battery loading door:

As you can see, I had to grind out a good bit of plastic to make an angle shallow enough to put these extra-long batteries in there without opening up the whole box.

One of the nice things about it is the versatility. You can use dual atomizers, or just one. Also, you can use dual batteries, or just one.

Finally, here's a shot of the guts. Sorry about the picture quality, all I have is my cell phone camera.

Ok so my 14500 protected battery's just came in after a long 2 week wait.
So I popped one into the charger I have for my 10440 protected battery's. I was told this charger would work just fine for the 14500 and 10440. The charger is Universal Li-ion 3.7 volt battery charger this one.

This charger is new and works great with my 10440, When charging the 10440 they stay cool to the touch. But the 14500 are getting warm not hot.

Should I be worried ? Please advise .. The 14500's are ultrafire lc 14500 900mAH 3.6v

: EDIT :
How long do the 14500 take to charge ?

Ok so i have the flashlight all set up and everything. I have the 901 battery connector from nerf that i am going to use.

I figured i could just wire it into the circuit board from the flashlight that connects back to the battery holder just to make it a little easier.

I am also using the original grounding method from the flashlight as well with the end cap/button touching the negative end onto the flashlight body.

Had it all hooked up and looked right to me but not getting anything.

Using one 10440 aaa battery in the original battery holder that it came with..

I just cant fiure it out, everything is making contact where it should be so i dont see why its not getting power.

Please help this is very frustrating.

Thanks.

Been workin on this one for a bit now-I like the hexagon shape of the light as it won't roll off my desk and bounce on the floor (saves crawlin' around looking for it too). Takes A 18650, a 14500, or can use the factory 3 AAA pack (NiMh) in a real pinch. I picked it up at Harbor Freight for about $5-also has a removable top so it was easier to work with. I decided to go with the RCA connector so I can use any of my atty/cart combinations as well. Vapes monster clouds too at 3.7 v :-D. Got more coming....

OK so a few weeks ago i posted that I got a Vapfirlife Mod and I loved it Its the best thing I have spent my money on so far.The battery life is great, Lasts for about 8 or 9 hrs of heavy vaping. I am using an 801 atty although it comes with a 510 adapter I find that the 801 gives a more consistent throat hit i dropped from 24 mg to 16 and still get the good throat hit with the 801 atty I dont use anything else now I thought the 510 was the bomb until i tried this but was so fed up with the battery life of the 510 now i can go anywhere and be assured that i I wont run out of battery power. Mods are the way to go definetly My atty doesnt heat up real hot its barely warm but produces alot of vapor I think this is much easier on the atty than the traditional battery, I have had no problems with the atty like i used to,seems like especially the 510 atttys only last a few weeks, the 801 iv been using for 3 weeks now works like new

I got a new commercial PV the other day and it had a problem. When testing with my cheap-ass multi-meter, I held the probes against the atomizer connection to read the volts. I wanted to see if they changed when I hit the button, that's all. I understand about testing voltage under load, but I was simply testing continuity using the DC volts setting.

Then I noticed at one point that I was reading 0.15 volts but didn't have the button pressed. When pressing the button it went much higher, let go of the button and it went down to 0.15.

This was very consistent, and tested 3 times. Probes not touching anything: 0. Probes touching each other: 0. Probes touching atomizer connector: 0.15. With button pressed: 4.something.

This kind seems like a short, but 0.15 volts? I would expect full voltage with a short - among other problems.

I then tested a few other commercial PVs, and found another that consistently read 0.2 volts, and three others that read 0. Every time.

Any ideas here? Problem PVs or just a consistent weirdness from a cheap-ass multi-meter?
