Something VERY interesting happened at work tonight. I work in a hospital as a ward coordinator and I was having a conversation with our charge nurse.
Seems her husband recently had surgery to put in a pacemaker, they both smoke…. So she was talking with the cardiologist about both of them quitting. She asked about Chantix, the doc told her to stay as far away from that crap as possible…. This is the interesting part….he (the cardiologist) told them to both GET AN E-CIG!!. A mainstream doc actually recommending that his patients use an e-cig instead of pushing the big drug company’s latest failure. This is real progress folks.:D:D
Score one for common sense, two more lives saved.

We invited Ratty (Desrtrat-Dan) out to our Turf from the hard core EastSide... Many have only seen this vapor on line, as he rarely appears in public. Many didn't know what to expect. Will he be bad azzz??? Nah... His arrival was more like:
Ratty came in late flashing gang signs, letting all those in the bar know that they were on our turf!
But people just laughed and pointed and the waiter pushed him down in his chair... told him to order a beer or get out.
The smell of fear (and chocolate/banana/pecan e-juice) filled the air at Las Fuentes, the gang's chosen hang out. There was considerably more fear later when Dan realized that he would be getting home to the wife so late... woooo bet that was REALLY scary!
Patrons of Las Fuentes pretended to ignore the clouds of vapor (OK, they didn't even seem to notice us, nor give a damn other than a few odd looks at Ratty when he dumped a coke in his lap, ROFLMAO! Hellen saved his 510 from the drink and Dan saved his.... well, you know how guys are.)

What I can say is...I have a kit from DIY Flavor Shack...I have over 40 bottles ranging from 3-15ml, glass dropper bottles...glass dripper bottles...gloves...syringes...8-10 flavorings...
I'll take some pictures of it all tonight, and catalog it all.

On another plus...I pet a wallaby at the fair today. Good god it was cute.
And now...the down. So I went to the fair with my mother and grandmother...my grandmother is one of those MAJOR anti smokers...like the kind that nag you...a lot... Anyway. My mom went to go smoke a cigarette so I went off with her to use my PV and to tout the wonders of the device in hopes of converting her :D. My grandma came up noticed my "cigarette" looked different...Of course, she asked what it was and I explained. Almost immediately she started saying "Good lord that smells horrid! Ugh! How can you stand to breathe in that stink?!" (with the scrunched up nose and everything) I explained that it has no real smell and that the only discernible smell might be considered caramel-y. Nope. She wasn't having it. "I don't care what its supposed to smell like, it stinks! I don't understand why you two don't just quit! I couldn't stand to smell like that ALL the time!" I explained that I have, more or less, quit...explained that I've stopped smoking what my mother currently was puffing on, explained how much safer it was and how much better I felt. Again. Wouldn't have it. "You just found a prettier way of doing it. And it still stinks. You're still inhaling that crap, you're still addicted and you're still killing yourself.
At that point I smiled and nodded and decided not to mention anything else. (I also relegated myself to vaping in the fair bathrooms...I don't want to discuss that...) In reality I felt like crying my eyes out. My grandmother is the most important person to me in regards to my family. Of all people I expected her to be proud that I've, at least, chosen a better alternative to "cancer sticks"
Regardless. I still intend on vaping. It just sucks that my grandmother reacted in such a negative way.

- We're Growing! Lots of new folks! Lets take time to get to know each other (and outside we can do that better!). We'll have each member stand up, introduce themselves and talk a bit about their experiences with their vape of choice, quiting smoking (or not) and using their PVs.
- Battery Modifications (both commercial and home made): If you have a commercial modification or have made one, bring it to this meeting. Also we can discuss the units currently available as well as batteries/where to buy them, what mAh is, sizes and things to consider when purchasing one of these units (Pipes, do you have your T-1 yet!?). Bring batteries, chargers, parts and pieces for show and tell!! We've been discussing setting up a meeting at Barry's place of business to make our own box Mods. Let's get something set up?! VOLUNTEERS TO RUN THIS (AHEM... BARRY, JERRY AND GARY?)???
- Discussion on a meeting for DIY. We can set up a date and give a list of things to have members purchase. Please formulate ideas. Anyone want to head this one up!? Volunteer please!!

Being the dork that I am, I've developed a software application for creating and storing e-juice recipes. It's nothing fancy, just something I put together in my spare time. It will make amount calculations based on what percentage of each ingredient you want in your recipe. You can use 2 nicotine liquids and up to 3 flavorings currently (I may open it up and make it more flexible in the future.. but this is a 1.0 product haha). It will also print out the recipe (personally I think it looks better than a spread sheet. The screen shot below shows what it will look like.) and you can give it your own color scheme if you so choose haha
I got frustrated with all the excel spread sheets floating around because I don't have excel installed at home and open office only works SOMETIMES haha. This application doesn't require anything except the Windows operating system and it's a pretty small app. Sorry Mac users, it's unlikely it will work for you, but you can try it if you have windows emulation of some sort. Below are some screen shots of the interface. I tried to keep it simple and relatively self explanatory but there's a help menu with basic instructions if you need it. It's geared more toward the person that's just getting into DIY mixing or someone that want's to keep track of bunches of recipes vs. some hard core commercial mixing operation.
I've tested this on XP and Vista and it's working great, but from my experience as a developer, you tend to look for certain things and the programmer doesn't necessarily make the best tester, so PLEASE let me know if you have any issues with the installation or use. I would appreciate any feedback you give me. For now I'm considering this a beta release, but you shouldn't have any major issues.
