I have an eVic with SS tube and top skirt from highendsmoke.de. recently, my control head went dead. At any rate, rather than replace the control head, I was curious if there was something out there i could replace the head with... i.e. a mechanical switch and 510 connection.

thanks for any thoughts...

Hi guys, so I built a box mod a few days ago that had dual efest IMR 800mah batteries. I put a plexiglass window in it to look at the batteries, backlit the batteries with orange leds, had a charger built in, the works. Then what happened is a friend twisted some attys into the connector too hard and that got loose. Then my tactile switch stopped working and one of the LEDs started to flicker. Squeezing everything into that little box didn't work so well and there were A LOT of wires and a LOT of plastic. Then I decided to build something strong, attractive, and functional. That's when I created the toe buster. I've been working two days on it and just finished. Tell me what you think. It uses a single 800mah IMR, has no switch, just a sliding top, the negative runs through the body, and the brass screws hold it all together. I soldered the 510 connector into the top and then potted the positive lead with epoxy so it is super solid. Then I put a little piece of pvc inside the top and put a brass contact in the middle to touch the positive part of the battery. a spring pushes up on the top to keep it off until I want it on. If I want to disconnect the atty and hook a charger directly to the mod I have the little slot that keeps it in contact. This is a super durable mech mod that would bust your toe if you dropped it (that's why it's named the toe buster)<a href="http://www.e-cigarette-forum.com/forum/attachments/modding-forum/212320d1369191912-toe-buster-mech-mod-dreampipe-img_2119.jpg" title="Name: IMG_2119.jpg

Like it says: this is my first pipe. I carved it from a single maple block, gave it some flair, aged it with flame, finished with 5 coats poly, and antique wax. I was working on a spring-pin switch for it, but got into the magnetic switch from another post around here. So far, the mag switch has cost me two cents, and a lot less aggravation. :-) I hope to get it wired up later today.

Gimme some feedback, if you please, that's why it's here.
I am very excited about this wick. I only have one full wick and a small piece I clipped from it. So a AGA and a Vivi Nova. On the AGA 1.8 ohm Kanthal ribbon and on the Vivi 30g Kanthal 2ohm.

Except for the crappy/sticky sliding rails - I am happy with my 4-bay intellicharger. But, it seems to me these mod battery chargers are all missing an obvious feature - the ability to charge ego batteries. (Not to mention, ipods, android phones...etc).

At a minimum, I'm figuring I can split the ac input (internally) so I could just buy an aftermarket charger and wedge it inside - giving me just one charger to carry around as I travel AND take up less space on my desk. BUT, if I knew how to build my own usb outlet I could more easily add a pair or more usb outlets with internal room to spare.

Can someone point me to a schematic? Any tips or issues to watch for in completing this project?

Thanks.

Doug.

Hi everyone. I'm a completely new to soldering and modding beyond using a hot glue gun. Anyway, i have a couple gripper vv that my wife broke the battery doors on. The buttons also seem to be going out on them as well.

what I'd like to do is take the guts and put them into a 3xAA battery box, like the madvapes vv box for a smaller mod. Is it safe to use 2x14500 instead of 1x18650 with the gripper chip?

If this is safe, or if its not, could anyone give me some ideas how to make it so it will work well and be durable?

also, can anyone recommend a good quality 510 connector? My zmax connector is completely stripped out, and now that i have a solder kit coming in, i want to try and replace that as well. A good quality button recommendation wouldn't be taken amiss either. I'm planning on using madvapes to order most of my stuff unless a better site is recommended.

Lastly, can anyone recommend a good small box case to hold an 18650 and gripper chip if this isn't safe?

thank you very much for your help.

I'm a marine that recently quit smoking and went to vaping. With my field time and deployments i will be tempted to smoke again.
I would like to build a mod with enough battery to last a week of vaping. I was thinking 2 23350 running 3.7 volts for 10,000 mah. In a aluminum box that also has a charge circuit and a tank or juice feed system. I would like it to be rugged and all internal to reduce the chance of damage.
I guess what I'm asking is help to design and build my mega mod for long durations without power. Thanks for reading.

Researching connecting buttons to evic board

Alright, so I got an evic back when they were fairly new. Like most evics seem to do, it promptly fell apart. The wires connecting the head to the atomizer connection snapped off, and rather than fix it, I threw it in my vape box and forgot about it for a while.

I recently got a wild hair and decided I wanted to try to throw the evic board and screen into a box mod. So I dremeled apart the housing and slid the evic board assembly out... and that's when I noticed the biggest hurdle this mod is going to have to overcome.

The lone button on the evic is a tiny PCB-mounted thing on the opposite side from the screen... not where I want the fire button to be at all. And the neat little navigation wheel actually just flicks a tiny plastic nubbin that sticks out of the side of the board in one direction or the other, which isn't feasible to control in a box mod.

Has anyone else here disassembled an evic and successfully connected real buttons to the board? If so, which solder points should I use? I don't necessarily need to remove the existing controls, since it'll all be enclosed and protected inside a box... I just want to circumvent them with something more practical.

Thanks in advance for any guidance you folks can offer! :)
