Bill applies to restaurants, bars in Virginia; takes effect Dec. 1

This is old news... But Dec. 1st is right around the corner !! I wonder how this will effect sales of PV's?

VIRGINIA BEACH, Va. - The home state of Marlboro cigarettes and the world's largest cigarette factory is banning most smoking in restaurants and bars.Virginia Gov. Tim Kaine signed a bill Monday that generally restricts smoking to separate rooms that have their own ventilation. It takes effect Dec. 1.
Twenty-three of 50 states, plus Washington, D.C., have banned smoking in most public places, including bars and restaurants. Other states debating smoking bans this year include neighboring tobacco state North Carolina, along with Kansas, South Dakota and Wyoming.

The FDA approved of a weight loss drug, alli, for OTC availability.

The FDA approved of a weight loss drug, alli, for OTC availability.
Alli Side Effects lists the side effects of the drugs with their relative percentage of occurrence. From what they tell me, is the drug forces people onto a diet or they crap their pants.

Now, for where the hope comes in, it seems like that is all it takes to get FDA approval. Market e-cigs as a way to get nicotine that makes you not want to smoke cigarettes. If someone ends up soiling themselves, we will have substantial evidence to support our claims.

Don't you just love the FDA?

I find it interesting that tobacco cigarettes are FDA approved, yet the FDA has created controversy that runs both hot and cold regarding the safety of ecigs.

Now,regular cigs contain horrible chemicals used in rat poison, welding substances, etc, etc. The ecig contains minute quantities of LESS harmful chemicals.

And in regards to PG in ecigs, from what I read, PG is in pharm medicines, foods and even condoms. Hence the fact PG is used in fireman training, theaters, clubs, etc where ppl inhale up to 50 gallons!

Ecigs are just a safer alternative. Ban sales to minors, warn the public of possible side effects and be done with it!

Actully, if I were in a position of political power and business, approving ecigs could actually create big markets...especially in the pharm dept Ecig sales have drastically increased in the past year.

With that in mind, who are they kidding that they are concerned with our health? They care about money and control, brought on by addiction and social acceptance.

If Big Tobacco actually took their heads out of their asses and marketed their own e-cig, not only would they make a killing, but everyone would also enjoy a wealth of benefits from it.
-Better PR: PV's are massively healthier than analogs, no marketing a product responsible for so many deaths a year.
-No ban: enough said.
-Better equipment? I'm sure if they wanted, with their large wealth, they could easily fund R&D to create a new product that out classes what we have now for a fraction of the price.

The world is truly backwards, it's beginning to disgust me.

This a teleconference regarding Ecigs held by FDA and numerous health care officals. Heading up the teleconference was Judy Leon (I wonder is she is any kin to Judge Leon) She is FDA Office Of Public Affairs.

Transcript for FDA's Media Briefing on Electronic Cigarettes

July 22, 2009 [pdf 65.2 KB] Audio [11.0 MB MP3]

Also the FDA states that Ecig have no age limit or health warning compartable to NTR or conventional cigarettes.

Do you think that all Ecig and Liquid and Cartridges should have these warning and perhaps a list of the ingredents and listed on the products the age requirement. All of these things are on regular cigarettes.

If this have previously listed please disregard this thread.

I am living in Germany right now. I got a letter in the mail saying that my order from China arrived. They sent me a form to fill out and return, wanting to know what was in the package, how much everything in the package costs, along with a receipt etc.

I contacted the supplier. They said they didn't mark it as a gift and included no paperwork in the package. So, I could say it was a gift, but I don't know if that will come back to bite me.

Or I could pay the taxes on it, maybe The problem is, I don't know exactly what the laws are. This was an expensive order, and so I don't want it to get seized or anything.

Any experience or advice?

Tracking the package shows that they were delivered to US customs 11 days ago.

Should I be paranoid about seizure yet? Is 11 days in Customs normal? It seems a little long to me but I have no idea how long their inspection can take. If they can take up to a month then I'll start worrying in a few weeks.

If they do get seized, will I get any notification, like a letter from Customs or something?

Does anyone know how this idea of no flavors will effect pipe tobacco smokers. They have had flavored tobacco for as long as I can remember.(Funny how you don't see kids sporting a Sherlock Holmes pipe) Doesn't this no flavors rule only really extend to things like chocolate, strawberry, watermelon etc... I thought flavors that are generally considered part of a regular tobacco or menthol will still be allowed.

I do believe that ALL cigarettes are flavored in one way or another. As an example I thought things like caramel flavoring was added to many cigarette types.

Surly flavorings can still be added to our juice recipes should the SE vs FDA case work in our favor. We just can not have any thing that would be labeled the same as a confection. As an example, I really enjoy espresso flavored juice. Really it doesn't taste like espresso to me, it tastes a bit more like a rough Tennessee Cured which would still be considered a tobacco flavor.

Am I wrong here?

Will the same rules still apply if there is no "drug" in my device sold to the public?
Please excuse me but I am still unsure of what you are saying here. I understand that the FDA's stance is that this is a drug/delivery device. Surely you are not saying that a devices "intended" use is determined strictly by the claims of some vendors. I would assume that the you mean to say that the other chemicals involved such as Propylene glycol and the food flavorings are considered drugs? The only other components of the e-cigarette liquid besides nicotine are already FDA approved as far as I am aware, or do you mean the idea that the device being sold as a placebo for a cigarette makes it a drug?
Thank you again,
