Be safe Bob, you and your family.

Do you have a generator?
You need juice to charge those batteries.

My nephew fought his way to my house after Hurricane Charley and delivered me a new generator. He'd bought five at a Tampa Home Depot to bring to his relatives and friends in our hard-hit area. Bless him. Haven't used it since, but ...

Thanks for all of your thoughts. If the storm doesn't strengthen too much, we'll be okay with 7-foot tides. I'm at 11 feet, so I'm keeping an eye on the storm surge projections.

I sympathise with you Bob . we visit the Caribbean about three times a year and our main time is usually in the hurricane season. So we are always watching the news and try to keep informed with the evacuation procedures for just in case. But we do like going this time of year.
A few years ago when we were in Cuba we were there just be for it hit New Orleans and that didn't really hit Cuba but it did put the frighteners on us as it had wiped the beach out for a few days.
And we were also in Mexico after their big hit and that had wiped out the six floor of our hotel. As they showed it slides of the damage and our room was virtually wiped out and the Jacuzzi was hanging off the balcony.
We will probably be in Cuba or somewhere in the Caribbean in about six weeks. So I hope everything will be okay but I do try and check the hurricane Centre website that shows you the tracking of them.

So keep safe Bob.

Thanks, Ned. You be safe during your visits to the tropics, too. The newest projections tonight would seem to lessen the danger to my area of Florida. I hope we're spared a second blow within four years. I'll keep posting if the power holds.

The worst is expected about noon today. Fay remains a tropical storm after moving ashore about 50 miles south of me. I am amazed that I still have electricity at my house. Winds are up; rain is coming down. Rough day, but not at all like the other hurricanes of recent memory. Thanks for all your thoughts.

Yeah, I've been watching your weather reports - hard to get a direct statement re Port Charlotte.

A couple of days ago Manhattan had a Tornado warning, a rare event. The evening TV News took up all their time reporting minute by minute the weather conditions for the whole hour. They didn't report any local, world or regular news events in that time. Nothing happened. I never saw them do that before.

Be waiting to hear from you at least by the end of the day.
