Question about distilled vs. reverse osmosis drinking water

Hey guys,

I am purchasing the new PureSmoker Legacy device with a tank setup, and currently, my juice is actually pretty thick. I use a mixture of about 75% nicotine, 10% PG and 15% flavoring. I'd like to cut out the PG completely and replace it with a different chemical, but I'm not sure what to replace it with. My nicotine is 50% PG and 50% VG 60mg/250ml that I purchase online. I make a pretty intense mixture of nicotine because I need the added throat hit that I normally don't get if I go any lower than what I make now (I started off low, but over time have continued boosting up the amount I put in my mixture because my throat becomes "immune" to the throat hit I guess). So, with that mixture, my juice comes out pretty thick, and I highly doubt the tank system is going to work well at all if it's that thick.

We actually buy purified drinking water here at the house, which I believe is done through reverse osmosis from the water company we buy it from. It isn't distilled. So my question is: will I still be able to use purified/reverse osmosis water in my mixture instead of distilled water? I don't have the slightest idea where I'll be able to find any distilled water around my town, and it would be great to use something that we already have here at the house without having to buy something else.

All major grocery stores carry distilled water. Sorry but I have no clue to your actual question.

Well for one thing, many "purified" bottled waters add minerals after filtration for flavor, etc. and if not there will still be some mineral content among other things.
Steam distilled water tends to have much less stuff in it....

Anybody else have any pros and cons for the issue?

Since you're aiming for throat hit, you could use vodka in your mix instead of water. I guarantee it's 100% distilled.

You can vape at 0.7 mg. per ml. but you cannot vape at 75%! Be careful with those numbers!

Reverse Osmosis and/or Reverse Osmosis/Deionized water is as clean as it gets (assuming the people maintaining the system change their membranes as necessary) I use it exclusively in my saltwater reef tank, the reason being that it has 0-7 ppm total dissolved solids. I can't see any reason why you couldn't use it in place of distilled water. If anything it would be better. Hope that helps

Actually there are many brands of vodka that add water after the distillation process. I would expect it to be clean and all but they aren't grading or approving liquor based on its behavior as an aerosol....

Personally if I must use water to thin a liquid I personally use sterilized water for injection. But I have that sitting around at work...but I've used less than 10 ml in the last few months...

For the small amount that you will use for DIY liquids for personal use, RO and Distilled will be about equally good. And if you really want to get nit-picky go to a pharmacy...

Thanks Screwbag, never thought of going to a pharmacy for H²O. The one I go to has a carboy of water (with a siphon hose & clamp that looks like it came off of granny's red rubber "water bottle") but I never made the mental connection.

Since my wife buys gallons of distilled water to fill her steam mop, I'll probably just keep using that.
