The worst thing the FDA found in their testing was less than 1% DEG in ONE Smoking Everywhere cartridge (the other 17 samples didn't have that) and some trace amounts of nitrosamines - in levels at or less than what is FDA-approved for food & nicotine gum/patches. These were Chinese-made cartridges.

Do they know what is in their tobacco cigarettes, made here in the good old U.S.A.?

Tar, arsenic, ammonia, carbon monoxide and copious amounts of nitrosamines, toxins and carcinogens at known high-risk levels that are proven killers.

Knowing that, who is taking a greater risk - you or them?

China has a great track record when it comes to inhalants.

Thought I'd share this post - with the pics:

I can't answer there, so I thought I'd post my reply here. WITH PICS!!!

First off, while sanitation is, and should be, a reasonable concern with ANY consumable goods, the particular paranoia over Chinese goods is at least a little xenophobic, and even a bit racist. Sure there have been high profile cases of contaminated goods, but compared to the sheer VOLUME of consumable goods made in China for the US, they are such a MINUTE fraction as to be almost inconsiderable. And it's not as if the US has never had serious incidents of contaminated goods or foods before. Salmonella salad, anyone?

    But setting that aside...

Our manufacturer of course has certificates up the yin-yang, but in the end, as far as I am concerned, those are just pieces of paper. The real proof is in the pudding; ie, their procedures, so I thought a few pics would help reassure people.

I took a tour of our liquid manufacturer last week, and I was very impressed with the cleanliness and sanitation of the plant.

The liquid manufacturing facility, is isolated from the rest of the factory. To enter, everyone has to don lab coats, masks, hairnets, and plastic booties.

The entrance to the Clean Area.

(That little box on the floor to the left of the door is a device that wraps a palstic bootie over your shoe automatically. You just step into the box, and *snap* you've been bootied! )

Next, you have to step through a "clean room" type airlock, where these high pressure blowers spray sanitizer on you.

The airlock is at the end of a changing room where you don the labcoats.

    Me in the airlock.

Inside, the floors are covered in a sanitizer, and everything around you is spotlessly clean.

Seriously, I've been in food plants that didn't have this elaborate a procedure.

Oh, and this isn't related to cleanliness but... am I the only one green with envy of THIS charging station?

I cannot find a manufacture in the USA that does not use at least one product from China. Does this concern anyone or are my friends making me paranoid? At least here in the USA things are regulated, ok maybe not the best system but I am sure much much better than China. We have no idea what these manufacturing plants look like, if they are sanitary, etc.

    Any thoughts on this?
My first thought after reading this was what the heck are you saying when you explain your e-cig, that would prompt that kind of question, instead of all the normal questions that usually get asked? Maybe it's just me, but I've explained my e-cig to sooo many people, and been asked tons of questions. And I just can't imagine anyone asking a question like that, so something you said must have triggered that.
It's all about the way you present it.
But I guess the important thing is, now you have plenty of good answers to give your friends. If you really want to shut up the naysayers, do the napkin test with them. Most of us have seen this before, but if you're not familiar with it, have one of your friends exhale smoke through the napkin while it's held tightly to their mouth, and then show everyone the icky, nasty brown colored tar & sediment stain. Then do the same thing with your e-cig, which will leave no discoloration at all, and let them see the difference themselves. Once they've seen that, just point to the napkin, and very seriously ask, "which nicotine delivery system do you honestly think is more likely to cause problems?"

This is about place, Not race. Even if it was racist would that change the facts of lead paint/toxic chemicals concerns people may have?

I've had several people when they've seen my PV tell me they heard they have radiator fluid in them.

Not sure racism's the right term. No one is afraid of Chinese products because they hate Asian people. Well, I can't speak for everyone, but it is common knowledge that standards in China are different from those in America. Add that on the lead paint used in children's toys made in China, and a prominent black market for many products, the fears are well founded.

I could bring up economics too, but I'll opt out.

I fail to see how that's even beginning to approach being racism. Xenophobia is more appropriate.

I wouldn't say that the preservatives hurt any more than inhaling smoke actually. The combustion of the natural plant (even grown organically) produces all of the carcinogens you find in smoke. The CO and CO2 damage your circulatory system. The heat and the 4000 chemicals found in smoke (without additives!) destroy your lungs. In fact, burning almost any plant matter does that to you. Smoking gets the bad rap because it's done frequently over a long period of time. The tobacco itself isn't as dangerous itself.
