Halo - All Three Menthols: Cool, Newpure & Menthol Ice
Although I'm relatively new to vaping I was able to quit a lifelong "die-hard menthol" analong habit overnight, and I haven't looked back.
I knew from the start that my major quest would be finding a menthol that was actually menthol, not mint, not sweet, not minty-sweet, not candy flavored or food-type mint flavors... I needed a liquid that would be my brand, flavor, taste (whatever you choose to call it) - I needed something that I could get attached to and depend on to be my "go-to", all-day vape, in the same way I depended on my analog brand to always taste the same. If this was going to work for me and finally be the magic that enabled me to quit after virtually never knowing life without smoking, I knew I needed something to depend on.
After trying to be satisfied with or get comfortable and attached to the various "menthols" and "mint" sample sized liquids I've ordered, I was just about to give up and resign myself to the fact that no such liquid existed.
I finally ventured from the safety of the New Members section of the boards and started reading about suppliers and reading reviews of e-liquids determined to learn more. I was running low on e-juice and waiting for orders that thanks to the post office, never got delivered.
I found Halo and instantly placed my first order for Menthol Ice.
I received my order in two days, complete with a 10ml sample of Freedom.
I started vaping the Menthol Ice and instantly knew - this is a very high quality product and unlike anything else! Within a day of using Menthol Ice I knew I had to try more of this stuff!
I had questions about the differences between the three menthols offered by Halo. It's what prompted me to reach out through their web-site and ask about the other flavors after experiencing Menthol Ice. I placed my second order and thanks to Jay Blazio's amazing customer service, two days later I had both the Cool and Newpure, as well as another 10ml sample bottle of Freedom. Awesome.
I've seen many people ask about the differences between these three flavors and I'm going to do my best to describe each one and how they compare to each other.
I'm using the Joye 510 and to compare all three of these flavors I've used fresh carts and clean attys. I've had three 510s assembled and filled with each flavor so I could vape a little on one and switch to the others at will. I've also vaped one flavor for hours to a full day before switching to another. I wanted this review to be as objective and descriptive as possible in the hope that I could describe each one to the best of my ability.
I'm using the 24mg strength in all three flavors.
Overall Impression I know I've said a lot of this in my first review of Menthol Ice and I've seen most everyone say the same thing, but I have to say it again:
Halo Raises The Bar and Sets A Whole New Standard : The product is packaged in a blue glass bottle, safety sealed and labeled with the flavor, Nicotine Level, Volume, Born On Date and Lot Code. The dropper top is child proof and the dropper itself is marked in graduations of .25 to 1.0 ml.
It's obvious that this company takes quality control seriously, and I appreciate that. I also know that when I place my next order for Newpure, (Menthol Ice, Cool, Freedom...) my next bottle will be exactly what I wanted and expected. It will be manufactured to standard in a professional, quality controlled laboratory right here in the USA.
All three menthols are crystal clear and colorless.
These menthol liquids are not "flavors" that you can smell in the bottle to get an impression of what it will taste like. There is virtually no discernible or overpowering smell to this e-liquid. It's not like any e-liquid I've tried to date. What is obvious instantly though, is the clean, purity of this e-liquid. There is no need to shake the bottle before using it, it doesn't separate, there is no particulate matter of any kind floating in it.
The flavors of this e-liquid are complex and at the same time, subtle. To me, vaping this liquid is the way a "good smoke" should be. I know that sounds strange, but I remember those times when I'd light up an analog and thoroughly enjoy the entire experience, from the taste to the smell on the exhale, my ever present smoke rings and the almost euphoric relief those nasty little fire-sticks brought me. Over the years, at almost 2 packs a day, those moments were rare indeed. I'd developed a love/hate relationship with smoking (the hate growing more intense as time went on) and accepted the fact that I was just one of those die-hard people with no hope of ever being able to quit.
E-liquid will never taste exactly like my analogs: This is my opinion and Halo is no exception. That said - I don't ever want to taste an analog again! Halo tastes like what I always wanted from smoking. I get all of the gratification and reward with none of the nastiness. I can taste the menthol, I can taste the variations between the three flavors and as time goes on, each of them have their own merits and they all keep getting better.
I can't imagine why I used to hold so firm to the fact that I "loved" my analogs. I love vaping so much more than I ever enjoyed smoking.
The first time you try one of Halo's menthols you may be surprised and not be instantly blown away like I was. You may wonder what all the buzz is about and wonder why people are raving about this liquid.
If you've been used to thick, sweet, strong or lingering flavors, this e-liquid will be a completely different experience. Give yourself a chance to settle in with this product. During my first week with this e-liquid, the more I vaped it, the more I liked it. Every time I thought I wanted a "different flavor", I barely finished a cartridge before I was topping it off with Halo, or reaching for a clean cartridge and filling it up with Halo.
No filmy coating in your mouth or throat - it's so clean. I don't feel the need to drink tons of Iced Tea or water when I vape Halo. I now drink when I'm thirsty, not because my vaping is leaving me feeling dehydrated, thirsty, filmy, coated or dry.
Awesome Vapor Production: Across the board. All three menthols and Freedom. Amazing vapor. I can sit and blow "smoke rings" to my hearts content. I exhale then speak, and a little more vapor comes out of my mouth! Where does all that vapor come from!? Seriously copious amounts of vapor.
I find the differences between the three menthols subtle. I don't think anyone looking for a genuine menthol vape would be disappointed with any of these. I have yet to figure out which of the three is my absolute favorite. I enjoy them all!
Menthol Ice: Gentle, soft, refreshingly mild menthol with a slight hint of Vanilla. I'm not all about the slamming throat hit and this has a very mild throat hit. It's extremely smooth all around. I experience the vanilla on the exhale and I get a hint of it when I exhale the vapor and happen to breathe some in through my nose. I can vape this all day, it's satisfying, clean and pure.
Newpure: A brighter fresher menthol. This flavor is what a menthol cigarette should taste like. There is no overpowering tobacco taste, there is nothing artificial at all about this flavor. It's clean, pure menthol deliciousness. After vaping this for a while, I again taste a very slight hint of vanilla. It took me a while to pin it down, but I believe it's an ever-so-slight hint, on the exhale. Excellent all day vape. Perfect throat hit for me. If I were forced to choose, I think this one wins by a hair. Over time, I experience more complexities from this flavor.
Cool: This is literally a cooling mild menthol. To me, this is the least complex of the three. Over time, this flavor does round out for me and I love it. I enjoy this one because of the pure cooling taste. Again, I think of this flavor as a genuine menthol. This menthol is only slightly "brighter" than the others overall, while still not being anywhere near sweet or candy-ish and not overpowering. I do feel the menthol in my head after I vape this, but not in a sinus-clearing blast. Another completely pure all day vape.
I'd be hard pressed to only choose from one of these, they are all that good. I love having a consistent liquid to rely on. I've learned to expect and look forward to them and they deliver every time.
Thank you Halo! I'm even loving the Freedom samples and I never thought I'd like a "tobacco" liquid. I topped off a Newpure cartridge with Freedom and went to heaven for a few minutes, it was awesome, just the variation I needed when I thought I needed a variation!
Taste is subjective, but this e-liquid is all around tasteful.
I don't want to find myself without this liquid, it's what I've come to rely on.
