McSocker, these devices have definately helped me cut down on the nicotine jonesing- the nervous twithcing that comes when I'm down on nicotine- Yeah- these could definately use bigger instant nicotine hits, but in a way, if we can learn ot accept the levelthey give, it's a good thing as cutting down further will be not so hard- it's just goign to take time to try to cut down further, and it6 does indeed take some time to get used to hte smaller nic hits, but I'm definately gettign enough to calm the nervousness enough. I've had several instances when where I really felt I had to go have one, but begrudging smoked the ecigg, and the feelign did pass- it wasn't easy for sure, but I got htrough it and am glad I was able to- as it just reinforces- slowly- the psychological idea that I might be able to keep going and cut down further at soem point

Not to mention an almost certain and gruesome death for the gerbil too.

Yeh, but that's one happy gerbil who can make it through an entire movie without a single craving.

UM, for the record, I mentioned my LAP. Suppositories and enemas are the other side. That is all.

Hint Hint - This is General E-Smoking Discussion - not General Discussion.

Basically, all we're able to do is remove as many particulates as possible, given the quality of our filters (I need finer ones!). Those particulates, as I see it, could pose a problem for the lungs, the same as particulates from inhaled burning tobacco do. There's no way we can distill out every possible carcinogen in tobacco, but I just don't consider this a hazard of alarm. (Maybe I'm being overly optimistic). No question that NOT using tobacco or nicotine is safest. But that's not for me -- yet.

We're talking minute amounts of stuff in any case, to be sure. The big unknown from my perspective is the strength of nicotine in homebrew. The main reason I still use some commercial liquid is that the nicotine strength is measured and known. Health New Zealand confirmed the Ruyan cartridge strength, for instance. We know that 16mg is 16mg. I have no idea what strength my cooked-tobacco extract is.

I also note that Ruyan stopped using dirty tobacco extract in its liquid as of last November. Most other e-liquid offerings still have it -- check the filthy filters after a few days of use. That dark brown gunk is tobacco extract particulates, and it also gets into your lungs.

None of this means any of us can experiment with pure nicotine, however. It's far, far too deadly a material to work with.
TB,
Couldn't have said it better myself. Although I do have access to liquid nicotine, I would never use it...it really is too dangerous even to handle let alone ingest. Now, as far as the tobacco liquid is concerned, I really do agree with Bob on this one. Look at it this way; it's the safest way I know of to include nicotine and help with tobacco taste and I really don't think it's very dangerous in and of itself, and it's certainly much less dangerous than smoking.
For me, what it really comes down to is the filtering process, plain and simple. This was the primary piece of the equation and the one that took me the longest to figure out. It took a long time (and the willingness to shell out ALOT of money) to acquire the apparatus to filter it to an extremely high degree. But, there's no doubt it was worth it. And as far as LN vs. tobacco juice is concerned, I will tell you that even if LN wasn't so dangerous, I would still opt to use tobacco juice. I just feel it ads (in addition to the nicotine) body and flavor. Like Bob said, of all the components to go into good smoke juice, obviously it's the tobacco juice that requires the serious filtering.

Hey Emp,
Yep, I'll ship internationally.

Here's my timeline as of now; I have a few more steps to take care of before I go "live" and will be ready to ship by 7/25/08 (including the samples). At this point most of the last steps involve the web site which will be a very easy-to-navigate and un-cluttered one!
