Default How do I get the nicotine kick?

First Post (watcher for several weeks): I bought a Gamucci classic, it works ok except I don't get any sort of nicotine kick.

I have tried one other generic cartridge and again I got smoke but no kick.

Is there any cartridges you can suggest or some method that I could try that would give me what I am looking for. Any advice would be appreciated

What strength nicotine was the cartridge? Maybe try a stronger density. Also, in the mean time, try holding the hit a bit longer than usual. You don't have to hold your breath or anything, just pause a second or so before exhaling. That'll give more time for your lungs to absorb the nicotine.

This makes me think about the other chemicals in ciggies. Ammonia and Carbon Monoxide are used in ciggies to help zap the brain quickly and give a big affect. It's possible that is the "kick" you are missing, not nicotine.

Elsewhere on the board someone wrote about this, saying that they have noticed no "kick", however they also noticed that after puffing a bit they weren't craving nicotine anymore. Could be similar with you, maybe you are recalling the Ammonia/Carbon Monoxide rush and thinking that is the nicotine addiction when it's not.

You know what you feel better than I, it's just my 2 cents.

I don't get the "kick" with an e-cig, but I do get the satisfaction from the nicotine.

agreed, Jamie. The 'missing link' of e-smoking is that head-swim feeling you get off the first cig of the day. I describe this as 'hit' and is one of my four requirements from e-smoking (bite, flavour and vapour are the others).

Lack of hit is the sole reason I go back to real cigs periodically. I say it's just to check if they're stinky, but I'm lying to my bad old self.

E-smoking has replicated the back-throat bite, vapour production and to a reasonable extent the flavour of tobacco cigarettes. Hit is the weak point. We've never had cause to separate this out before, but it looks like that sensation is caused by the additives, and has nothing to do with nicotine.

There is a fifth element (!) but it's less easily quantified. I call it 'business' and it's the physical handling of the device. I'd be happy to pick up a pack of e-cigs, rip the cellophane, smoke 'em and toss 'em. That would utterly replicate tobacco smoking. As it is, battery charging, atomiser cleaning, cart changing, dripping etc all combine to obscure the base habit of inhaling nicotine. I'm a slave to the tactile element of the habit so this perturbs me vaguely. On the other hand a habit is a habit is a habit. These elements just need time to bed in.

I totally agree, Emp. I've never had a real "hit" from e-vapor. Burn, yes. Hit, no. And I've always used the "extra high" 24mg liquid. Plus, I've also always used snus, Stonewall and a pipe several times a day. E-smoking does not replicate tobacco smoking.

And I can't wait for disposables to be available and affordable. I've growing weary of the dope-like futzing we have to do to use these things. Nothing like having a table spread with a hypodermic syringe, vials of liquid, wet polyester cores, etc. I want the whole thing disposable, including the battery. One e-cig = one real cig. 20 per pack. Use 'em and toss 'em.

If government permits, I'll see that before long.

Ain't it the truth, Bob. I look at the e-smoking corner of my study and feel like I'm running a crack house. This is why the Target thing intrigues me. I think you're probably right that the tech ain't ready for retail, but if the manufacturer could get the unit price down (by sales volume) the fail rate wouldn't matter as much (and we wouldn't be boiling the damn things in baking soda!). I don't even begrudge the tax bite. Let's face it, the only reason fags are legal at all is because they pay their way.

Hi Rachel, how's things? It's just about six weeks since you welcomed me to the board and boy things have changed for me. I've gone from skulking weasel to proud advocate of the new way!
