Heat
Is it possible atty death is caused by overheating?
Is atty death more prevelent in self-cleaning models? How much heat does this cycle generate and for how long?
Letting the cart run dry, might be like leaving an empty pan on the stove with the burner on. Bad for the pan, as it has no food to transfer the heat to. Again, overheating the atty.
Naw, can't be that. Must be cooties.

I found that soaking them in diet coke (has less sugar) at least once a week will keep you atomizer working like a champ for longer than if you didnt clean it.
My 510 atomizer i have had to soak with diet coke twice since i started using it. Both times my atomizer was getting wimpy as hell and really hot.
soak it overnight,
then rinse it with water to get all the crap out,
blowdry it completly (this is important)
lubricate atom with liquid and burn up all the residue left by pressing the manual button for 5 sec intervals until you do not hear a sizzling sound anymore.
After all of that, the atomizer should be really clean and should last you a long time. Theres many experienced members that have noticed atomizers dying because of the built up residue, not because of malfunction.
When i have the time i want to go out and buy some ice machine cleaner, i believe it was the member sun vaporer that first tried this method with success (im sorry if i got the wrong person). Of course use safe chemicals and use at your own risk
So far i have had one 901 atomizer die on me because i was too stupid to dry it completely after rinsing it with water.

I've just gone through 2 pen-style atomizers in about a week.
Performance on both was fantastic at first then within days became so feeble they were unusable. I tried boiling them in water for about half an hour but it hasn't made any difference. I'm now down to one working atomizer and debating whether to continue with the 'hobby' or just quit. I only use low-strength liquid so quitting shouldn't be too difficult.

I'm still on the first one (a Janty KB classic) and have gotten about 18 days so far.
