Gotcha. Sure hope no newbies take that seriously though and think inhaling bad liquid from a contaminated cartridge into one's mouth and lungs is okay. This is one of Dr. Laugesen's big concerns during the New Zealand study. It is critical that these are clean -- and how does anyone know with the unregulated production and sale of cartridges and liquid. Oh well. I'm vaping away myself at the moment. You probably are, too. E-Cheers to ya.

on the serious side the thought that hot wire technology might be safer than the pizo idea for this very reason.. did go thru my mind..

last year my youngest offspring trod on a weaver fish.. evil little buggers that hide in the sand with spines sticking up..

the result is an hour of the most intense pain imaginable.. it seem the only known relief for the poison is heat.. put your foot in as hot as temperature water as u can stand and the toxin is killed..

course not knowing any of this at the time or having the means he had to lay on the beach looking like he was dieing and we had to panic for an hour.. he he

a more humourous but no doubt less effective method is to piss into a wellington boot or wader and put your foot into it..

Naz, this might be important. I can't recall another instance of possible cartridge contamination. It's more than one, right? Was an entire package of five bad?

I'd sure like to see those contents lab tested. It might be possible to mail it Dr. Jim Loi in Malaysia, where he could oversee lab tests for bacteria and contaminants. Several times, as a reporter, I've taken stuff to the local health department for forwarding to a state lab for testing. They send the results back. In this case, since it's so hard to explain e-smoking, Dr. Loi might be the best bet. And who cares now if the bacteria further popular this liquid? If they're there, they're there!

It's too bad you don't know the manfacturer. And you can see the problem we all have: How can a bad batch be traced when there are no numbers on the cartridges or liquid vials? Not even a manufacturer! What if there are more contaminated cartridges out there from the same processing run? This is a huge problem of no regulation in creation, no tracking capabilities, no inspection anywhere. And we're sucking it directly to our lungs.

Can you imagine trying to track down the origin of Mad Cow disease without some system in place? Or the recent salmonella incidents? We walk our e-smoking high wire without any safety net.

My first thought when I read your post was -- Jim Hinson, creator of The Muppets, died of bacterial pneumonia. How can we know what's in your cartridges?

If you'd like to follow up, PM Dr. Loi and ask if he could take over the investigation of the contents of your foul cartridges. I've PM'd him before and he's great with answering any question.

I had the same experience when I bought a mini from ebay. The cartridges that were included smelled really bad. I don't think they last very long if they are not stored properly.

No TB- it was just the last three in the package- one day I noticed a strong flavor, then hte next was when it stunk/tasted really bad- I haven't checked any of hte other ones that I had left otu, as doing so I'd have to open them fro mtheir plastic to smell them (Some oder coems htrough of course, but not enough to really tell until opening the plastic) I'm smoking a new one right now & it's ok- it's goign to take a few weeks to see if any more bads oen are present.
I've got them all in the fridge now

Well, that's not good, Fumador. I would guess you threw them away? What brand cartridges were they?

Was ice-fishing for northern pike oen year, and kept knickign my hands on their teeth removign the hooks, didn't think much of it, until my hands felt kinda tight in my gloves- removed the gloves and both hands were swollen- by hte time I got off the lake, my hands were liek twice the normal size- didn't hurt, they were just swollen and little feelign- the saliva numbed them I guess
