    Default Foul Cartridge Taste

Been smoking carts for quite soem time now, and yesterday I loaded a new one in & noticed an odd taste & was in a car at hte time & someone mentioned the oder- I asked what it smelled like (because my sense of smell isn't htat great) and htey said it smelled liek rotton eggs and that hte smell was quite powerful- quite awful (Just glad I wasn't in a resturaunt at hte time lol). Well a few more puffs on the cigg & the taste got really bad.

When I got home, I tried another fro mthe same packet & sure neough, it too tasted and smelled quite bad- threw it away, opened another packet & it was better , gbut still had a bit of bad taste.

I/'ve not refridged my cartridges- but will begin to do so from now on as I rthink this is probably what turned the Cartridges bad- it seems htey contain somethign that does idneed spoil

no- it was the cartridges as I pulled them out and smelled them, and smelled the rest in that packet, and it was quite rank- then took another packet and smelled them and not nearly as bad- definately hte cartridges- it wasn't a burnt smell or taste liek you get when it self-cleans, it was a rotton oder and taste- it's been hot here, and I think they just spoiled- just a heads uyp for folks to refridgerate the Carts when we get them

Trog- I'm not sure what brand htey were as I had carts fro mtwo places and got htem mixed up (they were in the same looking packets)- I had smoked about 2 packets previously, and did not notice any bad taste or order until just yeasterday, and as I said, it has been quite hot here, and they were just lying out in the heat. The Carts themselves are 2 weeks old now, in my possession, and took abotu a week or less to arrive fro mtheir locations. If I were to guess- I'd say they were hte oens from SmartFixx, as I think I had set some of them to one side, bgut I can't be positive

Ned- my sense of smell isn't great, but I can still smell strong oders when I get close to htem, and hte cartridges smelled quite bad to me, so I can imagine how terrible it must have smelled to those i nthe car weho had better sense of smell- besides, my farts smell like roses

i ask cos we never fridge ours and have some that must be three months old plus with no sign of deterioration problems..

leaving them on a car dash in direct sun might do bad things to them thow..

Yeah, i've had soem that have been out for quite awhile now and no problems either- but this batch seems ot be different for osme reason- I even got soem on my fingers & can stil lsmell it after havign washed- faintly htough- but it's not pleasant- now, they may have been bad right fro mthe start, that I'm not certain of- but it seemd to me to be from the heat- but maybenot

Naz, what causes your underarms to stink? Your breath to stink? Bacteria. Your stinky cartridges are full of happy bacteria. Here's a quote from the Tips and Tricks section from Mihai in a thread about making homebrew e-liquid:

"The current e-liquids are good enough if: 1. they really have the quoted amounts of nicotine; and 2. if they were sealed properly and kept at low temperatures. Nicotine degrades very fast as bacteria love to eat it.

"Here, some tasty pics in a german forum:
"Translated version of So sieht verkeimtes Liquid aus!"

The photos show bacteria loving the nicotine as much as we do. Put E-cartridges or liquid in heat and you'll get bacterial soup. Good advice has been given here before to keep the liquids in the dark and refrigerated. Same for unused cartridges. And if anyone contaminates liquid by introducing bacteria, the bad boys will multiply rapidly. The health consequences will depend on the type of bacteria introduced, but nothing good will happen next.
