And now the decriminalization begins...........talk about the first step to the end of the world: Daily Herald | Cook County decriminalizes small amounts of .........

    A short excerpt:

Possession of small amounts of ......... in unincorporated Cook County could be penalized like a traffic ticket rather than prosecuted criminally, under a measure approved by the county board Tuesday.

I won't pay anymore taxes to these schmucks if they stoop to this level. I'll be out of here.
So, you'd rather tuck tail and flee than to fight the good fight? Too many people say they're fed up, but don't want to do anything productive about it. While you're online maniacallypounding away at the keyboard, why not use some of that energy to email your senator with your concerns?

I give the US less than 2 years before the economic "bubble" bursts, much like the housing market, and we become just another banana republic, if we're not there already. But that's for another thread.

The only way they can totally get rid of e-cigs would be if a law was passed making them illegal like possession of any other drug (class C felony) subjecting you to arrest for possession. And, as this wonderful countries war on drugs has proven time and time again, won't work. And people just end up dead over it.
I wouldn't put it past them to do precisely that, make it a felony. If for no other reason, to attempt to retain tax revenue streams on tobacco as the economic collapse rapidly depletes the coffers. It will simply be an extension of the war on the cigarette black market.

Anyway, I can't speak for anyone else, but I've stocked up on 4 things:

    gold/silver, guns, ammunition, and juice

    I'm ready for the party!

I've imported a lot of stuff that the FDA deemed illegal for importation, and it got here all right. If shipments are labeled accurately and vaguely (sounds weird, but that's how I used to get all my swiss absinthe), then everything should be okay. What's going to happen is that we're going to all make our own clandestine e-liquid. Not really a big deal unless they ban e-cigs; even then, they're not impossible to make if you have the equipment.

    Bravo.

And please folks... there is no need to stock pile. We have some more fight in us left do we not?

Continue to introduce old smokers to new vaping! If you are going to go out and buy lots, buy enough to GIVE to someone who might not otherwise be able to afford one. Spread the good word!

Seriously, give it a few days for it to settle in that the argument they are making is falling apart. Do they really think they could make the statement that putting "Adult Only" on a product is directly marketing to children and no-one will notice? They had nothing better to offer but scare tactics today.

If you haven't read Dr. Siegels blog response, please do: The Rest of the Story: Tobacco News Analysis and Commentary It will really make you feel a bit better about this whole thing.

In the past six months SO much has happened and every time "doomsday" was announced, we ended up taking some seriously positive steps forward. We have had veteran anti-smokers turn to our defense, we have had suppliers come together, we have seen consumers get a little more aggressive about their freedoms...

Happy Vaping to all and continue to teach those around you to see through this wash of propaganda with the truth.

I actually live in Franklin Park (just south of O'Hare). I have been hearing about this all day on AM780. Again, this all has to do with money. They save money by not jailing you and putting you through the system and make money by having you pay a simple ($200) fine.

Well, there seems to be alot of speculation about the direction of the ecig. Honestly, one is quite obvious and realistic. Banning the importation of the liquid from unregulated manufactures.

Does this mean the existence of ecigs from a legal stand point...I don't think so. Surely there is a market for it....it just requires FDA approval. Since the FDA is adamant on calling this a drug delivery device.....I wouldn't at all be surprised that they will try the medical route with medical grade eliquid....requiring a damn prescription. That's just me talkin BS....but still, nothing would shock me at this point.
Nothing snazzy to write, at the moment. So for now, enjoy my sig of nothingness.

Please accept my apology. It just bugs the hell out of me when people say they'd rather leave than deal with a problem. Sometimes it sets me off a bit. I guess you just caught me in a moment. I meant no harm. I'm gald to hear you are doing your part.

I would agree with you Dedmon, the product is going to require regulation and for people that do not what all the hassles, those are the one that stocked up. Noone has ever argued to my knowedge that the e-cig was ever going to be banned "tommorrow" and then tommorrow came and went with out a ban. I think what some of us have been saying, including me for the last six months is that a ban "is going to come"--big difference there.
