Panic buying and the FDA ban. My take.
Ok, my take on it all.
First, stockpiling and panic buying will NOT stop the inevitable. It's like using a Dixee cup to bail out the Titanic. You WILL run out eventually. And you must figure out a way of getting the goods unless you plan on vaping using a tea pot like Jim plans on doing
(EDIT: Jim, you gotta post that vid on YouTube. Vaping from a tea pot would be priceless to watch!
)
My position is this. I will support the US suppliers until inventory runs dry. Then turn my sights on buying directly from China. So far my shipments have never went through customs from China, the way they were packaged and used an international courier. Went right from the courier and into the USPS hands without even being looked at by customs. To me, it will be status-quo on my buying.
I will no doubt get shipments seized, and the obligatory butthurt letter from customs, but I will learn to cut my losses and move on.
I know there is no possible way on Gods green Earth they can open every single solitary package and courier letter that gets sent to the United States from China on a daily basis, even if the FDA does their worst at a ban. There's too many of them and not cost effective to do so. Heck, e-Bay auctions would grind to a halt, as most power sellers are in China.
The MAIN problem will be for US suppliers, who buy in BULK. This is what the FDA will look at and that will be the biggest part of the issue. Parcels sent in a courier letter parcel to individulals will slip right past customs without even being as so much as looked at. My last purchase was not even opened, and tracking never showed it went to customs at all.
Will I get packages seized? Probably, but highly unlikely, as my orders will be for non bulky items (atomizers, batteries, etc) and in a LOW quantity to allow the shipment to be sent in a courier style envelope, and not in a large shipping container that will raise a red flag with customs.
Remember folks, they only seized 30 shipments so far. Very dismal record.
Even if the FDA does it's ban, I will be vaping strong. And every package arriving to my address will bring a smile on my face.
I .....ed the gobernment one more time.
It's a satisfying flavor to go with my juice.

Exactly, an individual's ability to get "stuff" won't be hampered, but I would feel very badly for suppliers in the U.S.

Big Jim--Not me--I went to no-nicotine a long time ago and have 300 atomizers that I have been building on for the last six months. I have been repeating that a ban will come for that long---Tropical Bob as well.
So using my Mod Jim, I will never run out as I DYI my juice.
Now for nic juice--you are right. If the storage life is 2 years --then after that many will run out--but I do have to say that going slowly to no-nic was easier then I thought. I just took my time. But do not think for one minute that the urge to vape is not just as strong as it was before---that hand to mouth deal is why NRT's simply do not work as it is all not about Nicotine by any means IMO.

Did you listen to the FDA conference call? At one point they listed the potential "enforcement" options they have, one of which was criminal charges against suppliers.
I don't think "bulk" orders are an issue for U.S. suppliers, the potential issue is supplying them at all.

I agree.
Will the same thing happen for product shipped in from other countries?

A government that robs Peter to pay Paul can always depend on the support of Paul.

Bring the criminal charges on. I won't stay in a country that profits on deadly habits and eradicates safer alternatives for threatening those profits. I'll fight em tooth and nail. It wouldn't be worth their trouble to persecute me.
I won't pay anymore taxes to these schmucks if they stoop to this level. I'll be out of here.

Incorrect. Every package that made it to your door would be one less time the govt. .....ed you. Not one more time you .....ed the govt. Remember, we aren't the criminals here. The government is!
As far a building a stockpile is concerned, I'm more focussed on adding to my gold and silver stash, ammo, and food preps than smoke juice. I'll stop here before I go off on too much of a tangent.
Just remember this: ......., heroine, and pot are illegal drugs. Yet, many people can/do still buy/sell them every day with very little hassle.

Yes, I listened to it Typical whining, crying, butthurt, bullying from a dying desparate government agency.. Not surprising.
I give the US less than 2 years before the economic "bubble" bursts much like the housing market, and we become just another banana republic, if we're not there already. But that's for another thread.
The only way they can totally get rid of e-cigs would be if a law was passed making them illegal like possession of any other drug (class C felony) subjecting you to arrest for possession. And, as this wonderful countries war on drugs has proven time and time again, won't work. And people just end up dead over it.

I believe so. Once the product is deemed illegal, it's illegal. You can bet, if your item is seized...you will be punished.
Let's see.
HGH (human growth horomone) illegal and highly trafficked from China. If caught, you must first prove that you had no intent to sell. Good luck. If you get off, since they can't do anything about it from an international stand point. You'll take the entire brunt of it. Now, your hit with mail fraud, possession, etc... it's not pretty.
There's many things that are intercepted that are deemed illegal. The ones to get away with it, have middle men that can purchase the product legally, then ship it to you with out raising suspicion or to an address that isn't linked to you. But surely, once eliquid is illegal, it's probable that they'll have dog sniffers trained by then.
Again, good luck.
Gotta make my supply last!!!
edit.....was that your original post? I swear I read, "would it be illegal to recieve it?"

I do not think a full out ban will go through. We will still be able to get our stuff form china worse comes to worse. I also believe the FDA can not do anything until the SE and njoy case has been decided. We have had hysteria on this forum before about an FDA ban, so let us all chill and enjoy our vapes and Pray for the best outcome.
