Default This Vendor vs. That Vendor

Man, I recently have been doing research on other forums (and even this one) and have found way more than I bargained for about vendors and their fans feuding with other vendors and their fans. I unfortunately got sucked into it, especially considering this one unique product only has two vendors; which is the perfect formula for a fight!

Let's not mention any names here, but is this just the name of the game? Have you been sucked into this before? Let's here your story. Once again, for the sake of not making this thread an example of the "versus" argument, let's keep the vendors (or members) names out, please.

Every one has their own list of vendors that they like. A lot of us actually know many of the vendors. I don't care where someone buys their next bottle of juice anymore than I care where they buy their next TV set.

However I do tend to suggest one vendor more than others. Maybe that's because it only takes me 5 minutes to drive there, and that's a resource I don't want to go away.

You actually live 5 minutes away from a vendor? Get outta here? I know someone surely lives close to a vendor, but I always expect that everyone has to wait up to 3-5 days to get their stuff!

Yeah, I don't particularly care where someone gets their stuff, but on a forum like this, posting your honest opinion often time gets feedback of a less than conciliatory nature. Luckily ECF tends to squash all that after a while, but it can get heated. Also, I have personally talked to at least 4-5 makers of pv's and juices that have, and will tell you, about their beef with other vendors. It doesn't matter, per se, I just think it is interesting how it all plays out!

It's always the Sharks and the Jets, where ever you go- this kind of petty drama is just human nature. Everybody wants to start a rumble.

I could tell you hair raising stories about the grisly cross forum/facebook/twitter battles fought and died for between fans of certain gluten-free recipe bloggers/authors over Amazon reviews, with the authors themselves egging their rabid defenders on. I've seen some truly hateful stuff, ranging from disgusting name calling to actual death wishes on people's children. And what these people are so passionate about are blogs and cookbooks about flour substitutes. For muffins.

I had the misfortune to post a (legitimate) somewhat negative review of one of these fine "ladies'" cookbooks for which I paid far too much money, and was subsequently swooped down upon by a pack of really cranky carb-deprived blog minions questioning everything from the freshness of my baking powder, to my sanity, to my ability to read at all. Someone may have even questioned the very species of my parentage. And it's not like I ground her into the floor like a cigarette butt, either, I gave her a 3, and still I got nasty mail for weeks from total strangers.

Everybody needs to feel like they belong to something bigger than themselves. Even loners have heroes they'll defend to the death. Daily life can become drab and lonely, and there's no better cure for boredom than a good old fashioned feud. Unless you read, or play some sort of sport, or have some other kind of interesting hobby you could indulge in until the urge to make an ass out of yourself on the internet passes, that is.

Anyway. Yes, it's normal, for any possible subject under the sun.

I owned my own business for many years, and one thing I learned real quick was that bad mouthing another business was the act of shooting yourself in the foot.

I LOVE seeing Mother of Dragons anytime you post! Hey Ohai, I loved your post, but that last paragraph is GOSPEL!

It is a good thing there are rules in place here about that! I have read in many other forums bickering that is quite ugly, though they are generally very inflammatory forums in general. I had just recently called a pv maker and sat up for many minutes listening to him rant about why another makers mods were a rip-off of his! I was thinking, "Man, I just wanted to ask when the new model was coming out!?"

OK so now my daughter's found that she's gluten intolerant. She finds my vaping obsession humorous at best, but at least now I can share the crossover!

I haven't been involved in any of the feuding, but I have read extensively, paying special attention to the vendors actions/tone on some of these threads and boards. I have a list of vendors that I will never, ever buy from no matter how good their product. Because heaven forbid I buy from one of them and something go wrong with my order....I do not want to be on the receiving end of their sharp tongue and nastiness.

Just because many refuse to get involved doesn't mean they don't take note. Many simply let their money do the talking.

    Wow, lol, well thankyou!

It's an interesting topic, and I agree with tj99959 and cherryblossom above, too. I personally don't have time or energy for that kind of drama (I have too many kids to be that bored), so if a vendor is venting to me about another vendor, it just leaves a bad taste in my mouth, and I'll probably take my dollars elsewhere next time if I can.

Yeah, unfortunately I got a very briefly caught up in reading other forums while actively reading about those vendors on this forum. One of them was banned, and while I didn't flat out say it in this forum, I realized that all info is not necessary to share. It is tricky when you may be privy to info that other members are not and you read a thread asking questions about a vendors ethics and you "think" you may have some insight. But, like you said Cherryblossom and Ohai, let your money do the talking. And, while it is tempting to tell others what you have learned, I am realizing it should be only if I am asked directly, or it is my thread. Plus, we all clearly know how to use a darn search engine, ya' now?!

p.s. Cherryblossom, my list is growing. haha
