I tried the method I describe above with some commercial very hot Habanero sauce I have, and it resulted in a light yellow clear liquid that, when mixed with VG/PG/PGA, added a nice hit, but also a distinct pepper flavor.
Also, it gave a kind of mild burn to my whole mouth/nose area - could definitely feel it when streaming smoke out my nose! Nothing real lingering, though. I actually like the pepper flavor, I'm thinking of making a menthol/habanero flavor combination. With maybe 20-25% PGA. That should make for something with a solid hit.
    Peace Out!

I do seem to have throat hit problems with my 510 as well. I use things like PGA and Menthol in the mix to overcome that somewhat, but mostly just use my 901 as my mainstay, and my 510 stays underutilized, with only occassional use, so this possibility really interests me.

I went to the site E-Liquid Evolved - Home and looked it over. I notice the site says they exclusively sell 36mg. That would cause a big hit, but it's also pretty high nic content. I do find their hype about their supposed "FlavorFuse" technology to be kind of sketchy-sounding. Could I ask for some additional information?

    1. It is located in China and so I wonder how long it took for your order to arrive and what their shipping cost averages?

    2. What flavor(s) have you tried from there, and can you describe what they were like in terms of flavor and hit?

    Default throat hit

Drinking water will help getting more throat hit.

    Default Tobasco

I've read the concern with adding Tobasco. But once again I'm only adding 4 drops per 30ml of liquid. It's not nearly enough to change the color of the liquid or destroy the atty but it is enough to provide a jolt.
I'm a 0nic user so for some this small amount might not even be noticeable. I would think that if you added more you could always strain it through a filter first.

I might try straining some and see what it's like. Here is a thought - could the hit at least partially be from all the acidic vinegar? I mean, I thought acids decrease throat hit, but really, I have no idea; just a thought.
I tried a little cinnamon oil (I know, oil...) mixed in PG/VG/PGA (the oil dissolves in the PGA) today, and man does it have a throat hit! Gets a little cloyingly sweet after a while, though. And the flavor really clings to the atty.

I started making my own liquid. Tried just PG, then VG, then 50/50 which I'm sticking with but, alas, no throat hit.
Menthol crystal helped but I had a reaction to it.
So I went to the store and got McCormicks mint and peppermint extract and put an equal amount in the VG/PG mix. Both of these have alcohol in them so I get boo koo vapor and a nice throat hit.

Good for you! I started doing that just a few weeks in - it is so much less expensive, and you can customize the liquid to your personal tastes. You might try checking out this thread for recipes: Recipes Only (non Nicotine or other premade e-juices). Yeah, Grain Alcohol will give you a great throat hit. I love it. And I love all the vapor glycerine produces. I understand there is a belief that glycerine may gunk your atty up faster, so keep an eye on the wick.

Wait, I'm pretty sure glycerine isn't the answer here. Let me make some suggestions.

I think this sounds like either vaping too fast, or the cartridge running dry, or (possibly) an atomizer getting dirty. Search the forums about cleaning atomizers, and get some new atomizers as well, they are not expensive. You need to always have spare parts.
Apart from that, the burnt taste is most likely because you are drawing faster than the wicking of the eLiquid to the atty wick is able to keep up. Atomizer performance drops over time as it gets crud/gunk/deposits built up in it. This means you'll need to slow down your number and length of drags to address that; also try the cartridge straw mod (search on straw mod) to improve that. It's easy, you just put a little bitty straw like a coffee stirrer into the cart with the bottom end of the straw clipped at an angle. It improves your draw.
Also, 510's suck up eLiquid fast. You may be sucking your cartridge dry and need to either add eLiquid or put on a new cartridge when you start getting that bad taste.
The fact that you've lost throat hit is a further indicator that the eLiquid with the nicotine in it is not getting to the wick. That would account for both the nasty taste and the lack of throat hit.

Finally, I would recommend to all new users that you read some of the great threads with names like Buying and Using an Electronic Cigarette: A Primer. There is a wealth of practical information out there that others have already developed by going through everything we are going through themselves first. Let's use their accumulated knowledge to make the transition easier!
    Happy Vaping!
