I'm a little confused too but I skimmed through the entire thread. Basically I think is is a power pack with a usb passthrough, except the passthrough doesn't have a resistor so it sends more electricity through the atomizer, therefore creating more vapor and burning off buildup. I could be wrong about this though.

some people really dont understand do they...
i have not bitched about a possible product that might damage SD sales.. people assume too much..
in the kindest possible way i was simply trying to put a lame dog to sleep..
the fools that are to stupid to be aware of my (good) intentions are simply keeping the poor thing alive and in its misery..

Oh ffs give it a rest Trog - the thread will die when it's good and ready, it doesn't need any help from you.

it should have been closed long ago... take the trouble to read back a little and you will find i did suggest that.. this tread should be closed.. if it had have been it would disappear into the bloody archives where it belongs long ago..
joe.. please closed this redundant thread.. let it die gracefully.. only u or a moderator can..
and as i so often hear.. we are all entitled to our opinion.. this is simply mine..
seeing my reasons for wanting it closed so blatantly misunderstood saddens me..

Although I am a noob here and don't have much credit, I rather enjoyed this tread and look forward to see where it goes. Using pulse modulation to power the atomizers is ground breaking stuff and I applaud Doc's efforts. Our society thrives on invention and people who just won't accept the crap they keep feeding us. Secondly I see no damage in leaving this tread open to see where it goes. This thread is a work in progress and progress doesn't happen over night.

How is it redundant? I only see one thread on this topic. So what are your reasons then? Don't be sad, it is not our fault you can not express yourself in an understandable way.

Now back to PWM
Now back to PWM.
Atomizer failure is due to heat, they are designed to operate at temperatures of 180-200 deg.C. Now I have noticed more than once atomizers glow bright cherry red to almost orange. This is indicative of temperatures in the 825-1000 deg.C range. Anything operating this far out of its design specs is going to fail prematurely.
So if we can controll the maximum temprature of the atomizer via reduced duty cycle, the atomizer should last indefinitely longer.
